ESCAPING OUR CONFINES
It all sounded pleasant enough when I read it on the agenda.  Evening devotions would be held in the rooftop lounge.  I anticipated we'd be high enough to get a glimpse of Lake Erie.  

The reality was far from pleasant.  With other delegates from the Ghana Mission Network meeting, I rode the elevator to the lounge.  As the doors opened, we were hit with a blast of heat and humidity.  In this tiny upstairs room, Ghanaians and Americans sweltered together.  We longingly eyed... INTERNATIONAL PEACEMAKER TO VISIT MILWAUKEE PRESBYTERY SEPTEMBER 22-26, 2019
Lydia Neshangwe is an ordained minister of the Uniting Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa (UPCSA), a transnational Presbyterian denomination with churches in South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. She currently serves as clerk of the Presbytery of Zimbabwe and minister of St Andrew's Church, a culturally diverse congregation. She is the founder of the 'Centre for Growth,' a center that conducts seminars, workshops and group therapy sessions for personal growth, spiritual growth and wholeness. Lydia serves as the Zimbabwe Coordinator of an international non-profit organization, Hope's Promise, providing orphan care in Zimbabwe, Nepal, Kenya and Vietnam. Her husband Paul is also a UPCSA minister and they have two teenage boys and multiple non-biological children. She writes, "Outside of my church and ecumenical responsibilities, I love arts and crafts, reading books from around the world and travelling."

NEWS FROM THE DENOMINATION
2018 PRESBYTERIAN MISSION AGENCY ANNUAL REPORT 
In this 40-page report you will find striking photographs depicting Presbyterians at worship and at work, though ministry at the United Nations and advocacy in the nation's capital, disaster response, Young Adult Volunteers, New Worshiping Communities, and the Matthew 25 invitation.  The report also includes information about the approximately $62 million used during 2018 for the agency's mission and ministry.  You can read more about the Annual Report and find a link to download the report here.
TOOLKITS ON CHRISTIAN-MUSLIM RELATIONS, HIV/AIDS, AND 
SHORT-TERM MISSION TRIPS NOW AVAILABLE
The World Mission staff has created a variety of online resources to equip Presbyterians to prepare for, engage in, and reflect on God's mission.  These mission toolkits are currently available online and a Mission Committee Toolkit should be available this fall.  Each toolkit includes specific components to assist in learning, worshiping, connecting, and taking action, as well as instructions on "How to use this toolkit."  Find more information and links to the separate toolkits here.

SANCTUARY CHOIR CONCERT
Saturday, July 27th at 7:00 p.m., Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church
The 80-voice ensemble composing the First Presbyterian Church, Davenport, IA Sanctuary Choir will be preforming at Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church during their visit to the greater Milwaukee area.  The Sanctuary Choir sings a variety of great choral music and just returned from an 11-day performance and outreach trip to Germany where they visited refugee communities.  While they are here, they will be singing the National Anthem at the Cubs/Brewers game on July 26th, and participating in worship at Crossroads Presbyterian Church on July 28th.  A free will offering taken at the concert will be donated to a local homeless shelter.

RAG HEAD, CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ONE WOMAN SHOW ABOUT OAK CREEK SIKH TEMPLE SHOOTING DEBUTS IN MILWAUKEE
August 3rd and 4th, Broadway Theatre Center
After a critically acclaimed run in Los Angeles, RAG HEAD makes its Milwaukee debut at the Broadway Theatre Center on August 3rd & 4th to benefit the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee and to honor the seven-year remembrance of the victims and families affected by Oak Creek Sikh Temple shooting. The show explores Sikhs and xenophobia in a post 9/11 America. Inspired by actual events, Sundeep Morrison's one woman show, RAG HEAD, addresses hate, hope and American identity.
DISASTER PREPAREDNESS & RESPONSE TASK FORCE
SEVERE WEATHER PREPAREDNESS
The Milwaukee Presbytery Disaster Preparedness and Response Task Force (DPRTF) has been preparing a series articles regarding important resources that congregations can use to better prepare and respond to a variety of emergency situations. Listed below are two references on natural disaster preparedness which will educate, inform and advise congregational leadership on preparing for unexpected natural disasters. Future planned monthly references include Medical Emergencies in August and Usher/Greeter Training in September.
