A New Year's Message from our Executive Director

Friends:

Happy new year! Crossroads starts 2020 with renewed enthusiasm and energy to support New Jersey's deep Revolutionary heritage. That's much needed energy as we focus attention on the nation's 250th anniversary just six years from now.

This spring we, along with our partner the New Jersey Historical Commission, will announce the findings of our statewide site assessment, the first comprehensive review of 140 historic sites and New Jersey's Revolutionary heritage tourism potential. Researched and analyzed by our expert team from Clarke Caton Hintz, Hunter Research and Hargrove International, the report will include recommendations on the feasibility of possible locations for one or more New Jersey Revolutionary heritage visitor centers. In total, the assessment will help us set fundraising targets to fund needed site improvements and visitor center development.

While the 250th work is in process, we continue to support our Heritage Partners with innovative professional development workshops that help them present realistic portrayals of colonial era life as we raise public awareness of New Jersey's extraordinary Revolutionary era heritage. We're hard at work on several Crossroads-branded interpretive signs to be dedicated this year, giving more sites a way to tell their stories to visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We're also reinvigorating our online presence to share Heritage Partner events through our website, RevolutionaryNJ.org, as well as Facebook and Instagram.

On behalf of our board and staff, we're grateful for the support of our partners, contributors, funders and the growing number of individuals and families who've become Crossroads members. Through your contributions, you show that New Jersey's Revolutionary heritage is worth promoting and sharing for generations to come.

Warmly,
Janice Selinger
Executive Director

Revolution NJ Logo Unveiled

New Jersey's commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States is now represented in a graphic image! The logo, created by graphic designer Alex Flannery, was unveiled on December 28, just after the reenactment of the second Battle of Trenton during Patriots Week.

Flannery's design was the winning entry in a statewide contest for a logo to represent both the anniversary and the future. More than 40 aspiring and professional designers participated in the competition, submitting a total of 60 entries. Judges included historians, marketing professionals and graphic designers.

The Revolution NJ logo will appear on promotions for events, projects and programs planned for the state's exploration of 250 years of United States history. Watch the unveiling and read more on our website
