The award is open to an individual, couple or family who lives in McLean, DeWitt, Livingston or Logan counties.

The winner(s) will be honored at the 2019 Celebrating Local Philanthropy Luncheon on Nov. 14 at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Normal.

IPCF's 2019 Celebrating Local Philanthropy Nonprofits Workshop and Luncheon will be Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Normal. The w
orkshop will be from 8-11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon from noon to 1 p.m.

Board Elects New Officers, Members
|
The Illinois Prairie Community Foundation board of directors has elected officers and three new members.
Aaron Hays,
a member of the IPCF board since 2011, is the Community Foundation's new president and Erin Rogers, a member of the IPCF board since 2016, is the new vice president. Hays' election as board president left his previous board position of treasurer open. Cat Woods, a member of the IPCF board since 2018, was elected to fill that vacancy. Each officer term is for two years; Woods is filling the remaining year on Hays' treasurer term. The new officers began their roles on July 1.
In addition, Bobby Nash Castillo and Emily Vigneri were elected to the board at the IPCF's board meeting on June 21. Dan Irvin was elected to the IPCF board at its April 18 meeting. All will serve a three-year term, at which time they will be eligible for re-election.

Online Access to Funds Now Live
|
IPCF's online donor management system DonorCentral is live! Users are now able to view their balance, grant details and quarterly reports in addition to make grant/
distribution requests online.
We've created a
Quick Start Guide which should help you navigate the online donor management system. If you would like a 1-on-1 training session, please

Women to Women Summer Luncheons
|
Three summer lunches were sponsored by the Women to Women Giving Circle. The theme was "What Matters
to Us?" and the idea was simply to foster conversation and connections. The response was overwhelming, with each lunch exceeding the 20-person goal.

A will or trust is an effective tool to direct how your assets will be distributed at your death. Within your will or trust, you can designate all or a portion of your estate be given to a charity through a charitable bequest.
A bequest is a flexible and simple way to achieve your charitable goals. It allows you to maintain control of your assets during your lifetime. In addition, if you make a charitable bequest, your estate may receive a charitable tax deduction for the amount of the bequest.
Types of bequests include:
- Specific Bequest: You may designate a specific dollar amount or asset, such as stock, real estate, coins, etc, be given to an individual or organization.
- Residuary Bequest: A residuary request allows you to specify a percentage or the remainder of your estate be given to an individual or organization. The remainder of your estate consists of the balance of your assets after your debts, taxes and other bequests have been paid first.
- Contingent Bequest: This type of bequest is based on another, specific event occurring prior to the distribution of your assets. For example, you may specify that only if another beneficiary, such as your spouse or child, predeceases you will the contingent beneficiary receive the bequest.
An IRA may also be used for a charitable bequest by naming a charity as a beneficiary of your taxable IRA. The tax-exempt charitable organization can receive the taxable distribution without paying tax on the amount received. IPCF is a tax-exempt charitable organization, however Donor Advised Funds are not. Please email us or call us at 309-662-4477 if you are interested in including IPCF in your will.
