News from Interim Superintendent Dr. Dennis Womack

This has been a difficult week for the Lovejoy Independent School District. We were disheartened to hear about the alleged misconduct with staff by the former superintendent. However, during this challenging time, I am reminded what a wonderful community we have. While the misconduct did not involve students, misuse of district funds, or fraud, our board’s quick actions in response to the allegations, proved that we do not condone misconduct of any kind. Our board of trustees and district administration remain committed to providing an exemplary education and culture for all students and staff.

I am honored to step in as Interim Superintendent. For the past 14 years, I have dedicated my career to serving the students and staff of Lovejoy ISD. Previously, I served as Assistant Superintendent of Operations. During my time with the district, I have seen its exceptional transformation in academic advancements and excellence in our quality programming for students.

My wife, Diane, and I have been married for 22 years. Our two daughters, Natalie and Nicole, started as Little Leopards and now attend Lovejoy High School. Our daughter, Natalie, is a senior who will represent Lovejoy in the 5A State Swim Meet this weekend in Austin…please, wish her luck!

As a Lovejoy parent, I know our community is second to none. We are consistently recognized as one of the most respected public-school districts in Texas, and we believe our best work and finest hours are ahead of us. We will finish the school year strong, achieving new heights in areas of academics, fine arts, and athletics, and we will continue to grow and advance our accomplishments in STEM, national student media awards, student vocational honors, and significant improvements in the safety and security of our campuses.

It has been my lifelong desire to work in unity with a talented staff of dedicated educators and a supportive community who care about kids. I am confident that our district administration, principals, teachers, and staff will continue to do the highest quality of mission-driven work for each Lovejoy student.

Lovejoy Proud,
LISD Interim Superintendent
