Individual Giving

Mrs. Eva DiMichael calls every year to make her gift to CancerCare in memory of her mother, Barbara A. Miller, who passed away in 2013. Mrs. DiMichael is one of Individual Giving's annual high-end donors, and this year, she shared why she feels it's important to support CancerCare.

When Mrs. DiMichael's mother was diagnosed with cancer, she was told her co-payments would be $700 a month, which was concerning, because her mother was on a fixed income. Mrs. DiMichael said she would help her mother but was worried about the financial and emotional strain it would cause.

A Google search for cancer organizations introduced her to CancerCare. After being connected with the organization through her hospital, she took note of how swiftly CancerCare helped with her needs. After having made only one co-payment, neither had to pay another cent during her mother's treatment. Mrs. DiMichael expressed the immense weight that was taken off of her mother's shoulders with the help Cancer Care  provided. Ultimately, her mother did not succumb to cancer, and the assistance she received allowed her the strength to fight without worry. Mrs. DiMichael is so grateful to Cance Care 's help that she feels inclined to give back every year, in memory of her mother, so that others in the same position don't have to face cancer alone.
