  For this is what the Lord says:
“I will extend peace to her like a river,
    and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried on her arm
    and dandled on her knees.
As a mother comforts her child,
    so will I comfort you;
    and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”
Isaiah 66:12-13

I remember the day she was born. I was so happy and so terrified. A nurse came in the room and like a seasoned burrito maker at Chipotle, she wrapped our sweet little girl tight in warm blankets and handed her to me. Holding her like a football, I proudly walked her into the waiting room. We were greeted in the hallway by four beaming grandparents Bob, Romaine, Larry and Nancy. After showing her off, I wrapped her back in my arms, quietly sat down, and stared in awe as her mom slept. I touched her little nose to mine, kissed her teeny tiny lips, and felt a salty tear roll down the outside corner of my eye.

That was 21 years ago.

When she began to wake in my arms, she was unwrapped by the nurse, and placed on her mother. Nothing could comfort baby Brookelyn like her mother.

That is what makes mothers so special. God knows a Dad can love, they can comfort, they can encourage, but no super dad in the galaxy can ever comfort like a mother can. God knows this so well he uses the comfort of a mother as the example of how he loves his people.

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you”

I am blessed to have a mother who has always comforted me. I am blessed to have a wife who has always comforted our children. I am so blessed to have God who comforts me each day as a mother comforts her child.

Thank you mothers for always comforting us in our time of need. Remember always that God comforts you too! He has redeemed you and loved you with an everlasting love and proved it in the death and resurrection of Jesus. What an incredible honor that God uses you as the epitome of what comfort looks like. Sunday we will celebrate you, and what God did for you.

See you Sunday as we discover two soon-to-be mothers Elizabeth and Mary who both praise one Savior Jesus.

I can’t wait!

Happy 21st Birthday, Brookelyn!
The Grace Fellowship Love Fund is dedicated to helping those in our congregation and the community in their moment of need. Over the past year, several families and individuals in our congregation and in the community lost jobs, housing, or both. We were able to assist them in their hour of need in small but much needed ways. The love fund is accessed at Pastor Austin and the Church Board’s discretion to allow for confidentiality to protect families and their privacy. These past 14 months more than ever, the Love Fund has been a blessing to hurting people. Praise God for that!

At this time, the love fund is in need of replenishment so that we as God’s hands and feet might continue to serve those who need it most. Please prayerfully consider donating to the Love Fund. Thank you!

To donate to the love fund, click on the button below or give in the Love Fund basket in the church lobby. If you are paying via the link, please type, "Love Fund" in the notes before submitting. Thank you for your love and support.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
