Parents and Families of the Mentor Schools,

For the second year, all students in the Mentor Schools will have the opportunity to participate in lessons dealing with being responsible while using technology - Digital Citizenship. Many of these lessons will focus on the idea of what kids can do to make sure they are building a positive digital footprint. Our district is committed to finding ways to make sure that students know the importance of the information they post online. We are in a time where a student's digital footprint is just as important as the information they will include on their future resume. Please take 5 minutes with your child(ren) to review this "Internet Safety Tip" graphic to the right.

Tech to Help Support Kids and Families at Home
November is National Family Literacy Month! We know that reading with our kids is a great way to help them read on their own, and National Family Literacy Month encourages us to take some time to do that. In addition to snuggling up together with a good book, though, there’s a lot of cool technology that we can use to improve our children’s reading skills - even our big kids. Check out these sites for more info:
Have a tech resource that you love for your family? Let me know about it! I’m always looking for new ways to support parents and kids. In the meantime, happy reading!

Technology Used to Support Learning
This section of our monthly newsletter will be used to highlight the various programs our students can access to support learning. Last month we discussed our Learning Management Systems - SeeSaw, Google Classroom and Schoology. This month, we focus on the Self Service app that students can access on their district issued iPads or MacBooks. Self Service  lets us help students help themselves.  Self Service empowers our students and staff with instant access to content and trusted, approved apps and programs. Simply by clicking into Self Service, students can download district approved apps and programs.
