EXPERIENCING ARTS & CULTURE
The arts illuminate our lives and enrich our emotional world. This is what we cherish, and in trying times we are turning to the arts to entertain, to educate and to support and boost our mental health.
While some businesses are beginning to re-open many artists are still struggling. It is imperative to show the same support for those who create so we have established a one-stop resource for Artists and Art Groups on our website to help find information on grant opportunities, emergency funding, advocacy support and future recovery advice. Please share the link with anyone who may benefit from such a resource.

The St. Albert Amplify Festival is returning October 16 & 17, in a virtual format, to spotlight the power and potential of youth, art and community in our city.
This arts festival is designed specifically for students Grade seven to age 21 and showcases their art, creativity and culture. Featuring a combination of workshops and performances, Amplify is entirely composed, created and curated by young artists.
The Amplify Festival is poised to bring two days of (online) music, poetry, visual art and more including its first Film Festival! Full details are on their website AmplifyFestival.ca
The Arden Theatre presents its first in-house performance of the season!
After receiving rave reviews and playing to sold-out audiences at the 2019 Edmonton Fringe Theatre Festival, The Flying Detective, written by Brent Felzien and presented by Accidental Humour Co., touches down at The Arden Theatre, Friday, November 6 at 7:30 p.m.

This multimedia theatre piece will dazzle as it transports you back in time to the early days of Alberta’s aviation history. The year is 1919 and a police officer is killed on duty in Edmonton. The murderer, John Larsen, is already on his way to the coal branch near Edson and has a two-day head start on the cunning Detective Campbell. With the help of legendary first World War fighter pilot Wilfred “Wop” May, Detective Campbell may have a chance to catch him. Together, Wop and Campbell take flight to pursue Larsen and bring him to justice.

The Arden Theatre follows provincial guidelines, including physical distancing and limiting audiences to 100 patrons.

Tickets are $36 and go on sale October 9, at 10 AM. Purchase online via ardentheatre.com, call 780-459-1542, or visit the Community Services office in St. Albert Place.

Can you believe it is October?
The leaves are turning and there is a briskness to the air, but that just means there are many more beautiful colours to enjoy while we stroll around the city.

Our Performing Arts classes are underway and will be transitioned to
in-person participation by mid-month. Very exciting!

There are a few shorter run and one-day classes still to come including a few on make-up application, Acting On Film, Building Your Own Cabaret/Revue and a few professional dance classes. For a listing and links to register visit www.stalbert.ca/arts-classes.
PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
There are a number of Community Partner-operated facilities now open. We recommend checking their websites for details before heading their way, as hours may have changed and new regulations implemented as part of their re-opening:
While the weather is still nice, we encourage you to discover local treasures like our public art collection. St. Albert's collection is both engaging and surprising and because it can be found all over town it's accessibility provides the opportunity to experience and interact with art as part of your everyday life. We highly recommend taking our self-guided public art tour.
