What's Your Name?

"Ma'am, what is your last name?" the young man asked as I checked my car into valet parking at the hospital. "Smith. S..M..I..T..H", I spelled it out. "You know, Adam and Eve were Smiths", I replied. I could see by this young man's expression that he was believing me, so I continued. "Yes, and as people sinned, their names got changed." "Wow, I didn't know that," he said trusting my words. "And the more the sin, the longer the name!" (Oh, I'm having fun with this one!) "What is your last name," I asked him. "Williams". "Uh Oh!", I responded. Now, his eyes became big as if I had discovered his family secret. (I am giggling, as this is developing even better than I hoped!) "See that lady there" (as I point) "She's my sister." "Her name was Hart and it got changed to Hartwick!" "Dang!" the young man exclaimed! As I burst out into laughter and my Sis shakes her head, we let the boy know that I was pulling his leg! We all had a good laugh as he took care of my car.

Many times, we look at sin in degrees. Many think, murder must be on the top of the list and then sexual and immoral acts would come next. But God looks on the heart. If it breaks the "Law of Love" it is sin. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another." (John 13:34) The only way we can do that is by surrendering ourselves to Him and letting Him love through us! So, judging another, condemning them and slandering their name (even in your heart) is like murder!

Recently I heard about a conversation Heidi Baker had with the Lord. Heidi and her husband Rolland have been Christian missionaries in Africa for years and experience powerful miracles daily in their ministry. The Lord told her that unless we walk in love, we have no authority! Wow! To live in victory and power we need to walk in love! Not only to help ourselves but also to help others!

Starting last night, around the world candles are being lit. It is representing a time of miracles and remembering when the temple was cleansed from when it had been desecrated. It is called "Chanukah" and is an eight-day celebration that even Jesus celebrated when He was here on earth. (Has your temple been desecrated and needing to be cleansed? It is the positioning for miracles!) "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which is God's. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Can I challenge you, especially for these eight days to press into God and ask Him to cleanse your temple? Whatever is not in line with the law of love, surrender to Him. Whatever bugs you in another, check to see what is in YOU that is reacting (instead of judging them)! If ever we needed to walk in greater love and authority it is now! It's a time for the Greater One to shine through us to cancel darkness and bring hope! That's why Jesus came! It's a time to celebrate His birth also and the Life and Light He gives us! Whether your name is Smith or Williams go beyond a name change and experience a heart change!

May this Chanukah bring you His Light in a greater way and may your Christmas be one full of His presence! Please know that WE LOVE YOU and that YOU are important to us! Thank you so much for all the support you have given us. I so appreciate your encouragement!
