Course Selection,
Re-enrollment,

& Tuition Assistance
At York Catholic, we are grateful for your partnership with us in the education of your children who bless our community every day with their talents. Please read the following information thoroughly as it contains important information regarding course selection, re-enrollment, and tuition assistance for the 2020-2021 school year.

Online Course Selection

Junior High
Junior high students will register for courses online during computer class this month.

Quick Links

Senior High
Senior High students should be talking with their subject level teachers regarding appropriate course selection for 2020-2021. Students in grades 9 through 11 now have access to the online course selection portal in Vision. This will remain open until February 21. During this time, students should select their courses for next school year. After completing the process online, students are instructed to print the course selection sheet and have each of their teachers sign next to the desired subject courses. A parent signature is required as well. These forms will be due February 21.

Parents, please take the time to click here to review our course catalog for next school year. We are excited to be offering four new courses: Music Theory for grades 10-12, American Cultural Studies for grade 12, AP Language & Composition for grade 11, and AP 2D Art and Design for grade 12.

Re-enrollment
In an effort to prepare for the budget and enrollment numbers for next year, our re-enrollment process is aligned with our course selection. Tuition figures for next year will be published in early April after budget approval by the School Board. In order to budget appropriately, we are asking families to re-enroll now. The early re-enrollment fee is $200.00. After February 21, 2020, the re-enrolment fee will increase to $250.00, with an increase to $300.00 after April 3, 2020. $200.00 of the re-enrollment fee will be applied to your child's 2020-2021 fees.

Tuition Assistance
If you plan to apply for tuition assistance for the 2020-2021 school year, please be sure to do so no later than March 1, 2020. Please be sure to note the new deadline as it is earlier than previous years. Please see the additional information below titled " Letter regarding the FACTS Tuition Assistance Application & Neumann Scholarship guidelines ." If you require assistance in completing this application, you may make an appointment for February 11 with our Business Office Manager, Ms. Heather Dougherty. Please contact her at 717-846-8871 x315 or  [email protected] .

Again, we thank you for choosing York Catholic and we look forward to a continued partnership with your family next school year.
Parent Referral Program
If you know a friend, family member, or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $250 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic.

York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education.  Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $250 credit towards their child's tuition.

You, as parents, are our best ambassadors.  In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click  HERE  to fill out the form. If the family you refer attends York Catholic through their first semester, your family's tuition will be credited $250, spread into 4 credits applied to the months of February, March, April, and May.

It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the link above and allow us the opportunity to do what we love -- help to develop, nurture and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!

The Parent Referral Program is open to all parents of current York Catholic students. The tuition credit is not available for referring your own children. The $250 credit is only good toward tuition on a student's account; no cash is given, and it is non-transferrable. A referred student applies only to a new student from a non-partner school.

Thank you for all you do for our school!
York Catholic Fund Annual Appeal
Did you know YC students complete an average of 20,000 hours of community service each year? Here at York Catholic we know "Values Matter" more than ever. The values installed through a York Catholic education are timeless as our students learn compassion and service towards others, all while becoming their best selves.  It is our hope that you will continue to support our students in their journey. Through the York Catholic Fund, we welcome unrestricted gifts, which are critically important as they address the financial gap between tuition dollars and the actual cost per student. Additionally, unrestricted gifts provide operating budget support, tuition assistance, and extracurricular support. Every gift, whatever the amount, is greatly valued by York Catholic!
PSAT 10
Any interested sophomore is invited and encouraged to take the PSAT 10 this spring at York Catholic. The PSAT 10 mirrors the PSAT, and offers a tenth grader the opportunity to preview and practice for the actual PSAT without stress over score reporting. Scores from the PSAT 10 are not reported and do not impact college applications in any way. Students benefit from the opportunity to engage with the material and become familiar with the format of the test before taking the PSAT in October of their junior year.   PSAT test scores do count; those scores are referenced to determine Merit Scholars, and free practice tests are available online through College Board. Features of the PSAT 10 are as follows:
  • The PSAT 10 is a three-hour exam, featuring a math section and a reading/writing section.
  • Each section is worth 760 points for a possible total composite of 1520.
  • The math section targets algebra and advanced math problems. A spring testing session is optimal as sophomores will be concluding a year of Algebra II.
The test will be offered at York Catholic from 8-11 AM on Saturday, April 18. Any interested sophomore must register by February 14. Click here for the registration form; they are also available in the main office. Cost per student is $20.00, and checks can be made out to York Catholic. Questions may be directed to Kathy Hand at  [email protected] .

Early Dismissal

We will be dismissing students at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 14, so teachers may attend an important In-service. School districts will run their pick-up earlier to accommodate our students. There will be no supervision available in the building after 11:30 AM. Any students remaining after dismissal will need to call a parent or guardian for pick-up.
No School - Presidents Day

Students were asked to write a response to the question, "Is Optimism the Key to Achieving the Dreams you Imagine?" Lori wrote about her mission trip to West Virginia during sophomore year where she helped to build a ramp for a disabled woman.  This inspired Lori to pursue the field of occupational therapy to help others in spreading optimism and hope.

Inclement Weather
During inclement weather that would cause a school closing or delay of schedule, York Catholic will call/text/email you through our One Call Now Emergency Notification system. Other modes of notification include WGAL TV-8, Fox43, and the YC website. Students from individual school districts are automatically excused if their district closes and does not provide transportation to YCHS. The exceptions to this are Southern and Southeastern. These students follow York Catholic's delay and closing schedule.
