NEWS FROM WYOMING SOCCER ASSOCIATON...
It has always been Wyoming Soccer Association's intention to support and assist our clubs and the community of players who rely on their services to play soccer. We have made every effort to support getting our soccer players, coaches and referees back on the fields this spring season. The final remaining event, Battle in the Springs, scheduled for May 16-17, was cancelled, and the state still has a restriction on gatherings of more than 10 individuals through May 15, 2020. As such, the Wyoming Soccer Association (WSA) Board of Directors met earlier this evening and made the tough decision to officially cancel the remainder of the 2019-2020 soccer season.

With that said, the WSA board and staff are currently working to create a guiding document that will clearly outline the protocol for return to play for all WSA affiliated clubs.

Provisions may be made for individual clubs to return to play prior to the new season beginning, August 1, 2020. These provisions are as follows:

  • Governor Mark Gordon must release current restrictions and allow for gatherings that would support organized youth activities, such as soccer practice and/or games.

  • Return to play will only be allowed following WSA notification to clubs that they may, if they choose, return to play.

  • Any clubs that choose to offer organized soccer activity for their members must follow WSA's Return to Play Protocols, which again, are currently in the process of being drafted.

  • Players MUST be registered with the club and fees to the state MUST be paid for all participating players.

  • Competitive players must have a player card.

  • If the club chooses to return to play (again, only if the governor releases restrictions that would allow for such action, and once WSA has sent notification that clubs may do so), the state office must be notified for insurance purposes.

It is our hope that eliminating the pressure of spring soccer in the coming months will allow clubs (under the above provisions) and families the opportunity to emerge at your own pace when you feel safe.  We gave considerable thought to this decision, and feel confident it was the right one.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to plan for the future of state and club soccer here in Wyoming. As always, the safety and security of our soccer community is, and always will be, our highest priority.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to the state office with any questions.

Sincerely,

Dan King
Wyoming Soccer Association Board President
