Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine: Two Stony Brook Faculty Named 2019 National Academy of Inventors Fellows

Israel Kleinberg, DDS, PhD, DSc, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Department of Oral Biology and Pathology, and  Stanislaus S. Wong, PhD, Distinguished Professor, Department of Chemistry, have been selected as fellows by the National Academy of Inventors-the highest professional distinction accorded solely to academic inventors.   Read more.

Columbia University College of Dental Medicine: 2020 Dental Match: A Strong Showing for CDM

The Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CDM) recently marked a very successful 2020 Match. In late January, the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program matched dental students into postgraduate programs in pediatric dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, advanced education in general dentistry, and general practice residencies; placements for other specialties such as orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and endodontics were made in the fall.   Read more.

Eastman Institute For Oral Health, University of Rochester Hosts First Eastmans' Oral Health International Grand Rounds

George Eastman was there in spirit and portrait as the first-of-its-kind event happened among three of the six Eastman Institutes he founded. A thought leader ahead of his time, George Eastman knew the vital importance of good oral health, educating dental providers, and the necessity of dental and craniofacial research in serving those less fortunate in our communities. After he saw the success of the Rochester Dental Dispensary that he founded in 1915, he established similar institutions in London, Rome, Brussels, Stockholm and Paris.   Read more.

CariedAway is a school-based cavity prevention program led by NYU Dentistry and funded through a $13.3 million award by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). NYU CariedAway brings care to students during their school day, twice each year.   Read more.

Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College Appoints Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs

Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) has appointed Aaron Yancoskie, D.D.S., as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs. Dr. Yancoskie has been a dedicated member of the TCDM faculty since the school's inception, serving as Associate Professor of Dental Medicine and Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology for the past four years. In this new role, he will have direct oversight of Pre-Clinical Education, the Basic Science Educational Programs and Curriculum Management, helping to ensure TCDM's student dentists are well positioned for the future of oral health care.   Read more.

Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine: Drs. Laurence Wynn and Joseph Hamil Willoughby Honored for 25 Years of Providing Care in Madagascar

During a January 30th ceremony, Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine recognized the efforts of its faculty and staff members responsible for the coordination and execution of outreach initiatives. Currently, many faculty and staff make service-learning programs and care for the underserved possible on a volunteer basis. Their dedication includes sourcing supplies, maintaining external partnerships, and mentoring students through their experiences.   Read more.

NYU College of Dentistry's Janny Lim, '20, Wins ADA Foundation Tarrson Award

The ADA Foundation has awarded Janny Lim, '20, its 2019 Dental School Student Community Leadership Tarrson Award in support of her research on "Determining and Improving Access to Pediatric Dental Care for Children of Vulnerable Pregnant Women." The goal of the Tarrson Award is to recognize a volunteer community service project within the U.S. that is organized and/or conducted by a group of dental students enrolled in a predoctoral dental education program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.   Read more.
