October 1, 2020
Dear Lovejoy Families,

Welcome to October! I can't believe that we will be concluding the first nine weeks next Thursday. The beginning of school has definitely flown by this year. We are excited for our first Leopard Live tomorrow at 8 am to celebrate our amazing students. In your child's SeeSaw, you will find the link if you would like to tune in "live." We will also send out the recording tomorrow after our event.

A big congratulations to Mrs. Nicholson for being our Heart of the Teacher and Mrs. Mancini for being our Heart of Support for the month of September. We appreciate all that they do to support our school.
We are in the process of determining teachers for our students who are returning to on campus learning. We will be contacting you by next Thursday, October 8th with your child's teacher for their return on Tuesday, October 13th.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at anytime.

All My Best,
Wendy Craft

Meet our New Music Teacher, Ms. Barba
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Barba to Lovejoy Elementary! She is excited about helping students develop a lifelong passion for music. Ms. Barba grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco (Mexico) and lived in the Texas Rio Grande Valley for 11 years before coming to the DFW area. Ms. Barba earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (vocal/choral) at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Ms. Barba’s musical experiences include: being a section leader in her university’s choir and performing throughout the state of Texas; performing major works with the Valley Symphony Orchestra and Chorale; and starring in several university opera productions including Bizet’s Carmen and Verdi’s La Traviata. Ms. Barba’s leadership and teaching experiences include serving as vocal coach and music director of a university musical theater production as part of her undergraduate creative works project with the Engaged Scholarship. In addition, Ms. Barba completed her clinical teaching with the choir and elementary music programs at J. Economedes High School and A. Ramirez Elementary in Edinburg, TX. After university, Ms. Barba worked as a pre-school music teacher at Preston Park Montessori Academy in Plano, TX. Outside of her academic performances, Ms. Barba performs in a non-profit vocal ensemble called Dolce Armonia. Ms. Barba looks forward to meeting the students at Lovejoy Elementary and creating a safe and engaging learning environment in the music classroom.
