PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Shawn Wills
Dear Friends,

It’s February and love is in the air! As we enter this month, which is generally associated with hearts, chocolates, flowers and proposals, let’s be mindful that love is the core sentiment behind fundraising.

Giving — whether it’s time, money, a hug, or encouraging words — is an act of love itself, and it comes from the heart. As fundraisers, we appreciate our donors, and it is why we jump for joy at every single “yes” … those that come quickly, as well as the ones that take a little extra time and effort. No matter how long it takes to secure a gift, keep your eyes focused on your organization’s mission and work, and be ready, because that yes is within your reach.

Our speaker this month can definitely attest to grinding it out. Dr. Cheryl “Action” Jackson went from being hungry herself to providing more than 7 million healthy meals, educational resources and red-carpet treatment to everyone who has walked through the doors of Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano, which she founded more than a decade ago in honor of her late mother. “Minnie’s Food Pantry is a source of not only food, but encouragement and hope for all those we serve,” says Cheryl, who is now an author, speaker, TV host and successful social entrepreneur. Register here for our action-packed luncheon on February 26.

In the meantime, share some love with your fellow fundraisers — not just at our monthly luncheons but even more regularly. A little love goes a long way.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Very best regards,

Shawn Wills, CFRE
