Reflections with Fr. Mark
Dear Parishioners,

How is your guardian angel doing?  I think I heard somewhere that priests have two guardian angels which, if true, is a wonderful thing because one would be overworked with me.  This small “t” tradition states that a priest has a guardian angel and an empowering angel.

Today, is the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels.  Jesus referred to the guardian angels in Matthew 18:10, saying of children, “I tell you in heaven their angels continually see the face of my Father in heaven.”  Our Tradition speaks of our belief that a “guardian angel” is assigned to each person and is a reminder of the precious significance every soul has to God.

In these challenging times, it may do us some good to realize that we are not alone.  God is always with us even through the angel that sees the face of God.  May our personal heavenly creature restore our hope and confidence as we continue the journey toward the face of God.

Angel of God, my guardian dear. To whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side: to light, to guard, to rule and guide.  Amen

The journey continues…

Blessings,

Fr. Mark
