Domestic Abuse Resources For Survivors In Pittsburgh and Throughout Allegheny County

Domestic violence has not been paused during the pandemic. In fact, with people stuck in their houses, victims of abuse may be more as risk. If you or someone you know is struggling with domestic violence during the pandemic, there is help available.

The Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas has created a Frequently Asked Question page about obtaining Protection from Abuse (“PFA”) Orders during the pandemic, and instructions on how to report a PFA Violation during the pandemic. If you need a PFA order you can obtain one from the Pittsburgh Municipal Court located at 600 First Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. The Pittsburgh Municipal Court is hearing Temporary PFA cases from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Emergency PFAs may obtained at other hours.
A Temporary PFA Order issued during the Court Closure shall remain in effect until fifteen (15) days after the end of the current judicial emergency unless otherwise indicated in the temporary order. This was confirmed in the March 26, 2020 Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judicial Emergency Order . If the Temporary PFA includes eviction from a residence or a change in custody of a child, the Family Court is scheduling virtual settlement conferences.
