Sacramento County Public Health today announced important information that could possibly affect when we can open our schools for in-person teaching and learning.
Public health officials say COVID-19 cases have dropped sufficiently over the past few weeks. As a result, the county has moved into what’s called the “Red Tier” under California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. In order for schools to consider reopening to include a level of in-classroom instruction, the county must remain in the “Red Tier” for two weeks.
We welcome this news, as it is our desire to include in-class teaching and learning (hybrid model), to the degree possible, with enhanced safety and cleaning protocols and procedures. We must also keep in mind that the situation is still fluid and we must be prepared for remaining virtual or going to some level of in-person instruction.
