A Great Cloud of Witnesses
The first Gentile convert to Christianity ( Cornelius ), a young girl ( Manche Masemola ) killed by her parents because she dared to become a Christian, a martyr from the early years of the Church ( Agatha ) remembered in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, and a man and a woman ( Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson ) seeking religious freedom in the colonies. All of them powerful witnesses to faith and courage.

A testimony to the horror of war and to the courage and conviction of faith, the Dorchester Chaplains inspire my interfaith work today. Let us learn from all these Jesus Followers. Let us continue the work of Jesus as did these men and women. May each of us in our own way, led and energized by the same Holy Spirit, give glory to God for the good and welfare of God's creation and God's children. ~Fr. Dan

Here is the Calendar for February 2 – February 8

Note: Major Feasts of the Episcopal Church are highlighted in BOLD print in church calendars.

Manche Masemola is one of the ten 20th-century martyrs from across the world who are depicted in statues above the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey, London.

 Building Faith
In our diocesan-wide "Year of Discipleship" Building Faith we will be a resource you will want to visit again and again. ~Fr. Dan

Building Faith?

Building Faith is published by Lifelong Learning at Virginia Theological Seminary. Our mission is to equip and inspire churches and individuals for the ministry of Christian education and faith formation.

We believe that Christian education means helping all ages – children, youth, and adults – grow in the knowledge and love of God. We also know that formation happens in many ways: worship, church school, faith at home, outreach, mission, camp, and more. Read more: About Us

Season of Intentional Discipleship
In our diocesan-wide "Year of Discipleship" you will want to explore the Season of Intentional Discipleship and Disciple-Making that began in 2016 as an initiative within the Worldwide Anglican Communion. What can we learn from our brothers and sisters throughout the world about being a disciple of Jesus Christ? ~Fr. Dan
"The best decision anyone can ever make, at any point in life, in any circumstances, whoever they are, wherever they are, is to become a disciple of Jesus Christ."
Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby

Jesus Christ urged his disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations”. Anglicans and Episcopalians around the world are still responding to that ‘Great Commission’ today by supporting evangelism, training, discipleship and church growth globally.

The current focus across the Anglican Communion is on Intentional Discipleship which was the theme of the Anglican Consultative Council in 2016 (ACC-16). A Season of Intentional Discipleship and Disciple-Making (SIDD) was launched at ACC-16. It will run until ACC-19, in 2025.
Discipleship is about equipping Christians to live their everyday lives as followers of Jesus Christ, following his example and his teaching. It is about putting faith into practice and training other believers to do the same. It is about mentoring and encouraging believers so that their faith has an impact on the world around them. A video to mark the launch of the Season of Intentional Discipleship was commissioned by the SID co-ordinating group set up after ACC-16:
