Nurturing the Faith
In Our Prayers: The week we return from Christmas break, we will be praying for these St. Peter alumni who graduated from our school: Jon Hearth, class of 2011; Jordan Hilbrandt, class of 2011, Joseph Guttowsky, class of 2014 and Julia Gauna, class of 2013.

Devotion of the Week: The Keys to the Kingdom Bible verse for this week is Isaiah 9:6 , " For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." This Old Testament verse points us to that first Christmas which we will celebrate once again this year. This promise was given after Adam and Eve had sinned, and that promise of a Savior is one our students hear about each day in school. As we prepare for yet another Christmas, we also prepare for Christ's second coming, another promise that we eagerly anticipate. May God bless your Christmas as He surrounds you with His love, grace, and peace. Merry Christmas!

Help Needed: The St. Peter video graphing service is looking for people (7th grade and older) to help stream and record services. It is not hard to do and requires very little training. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve our congregation. Thank you for considering or encouraging your child to consider. If interested, please contact the church office.
Children's Christmas Service: Our students did a wonderful job proclaiming the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at our Wednesday Advent service. Thank you teachers and Mr. Heinlein for all of your work preparing the students and rehearsing this service with them throughout the last several weeks. You may watch this service by going to our website ( or click here to link to our website and then click on the live stream link). Our students reminded us through word and song: "Fear not!" and "Joy to the world, the Lord is come!"
Quotes of the Week
"The kids did an awesome job!"
-Comment from a grandparent of three of our students about the Children's Christmas service on Wednesday.

"I  wanted to let you know how much I appreciated it [Children's Christmas Service]. The kids did great - they spoke clearly and made sure the message of Christ’s birth got across. I loved hearing them sing the parts of the liturgy and share the history of one of our great hymns."
-Comment from Mrs. Rebecca Sugden, Director of Bands at Valley Lutheran High School
In the Classroom
Science Fair: This is a reminder that our Science Fair will take place on Thursday, January 30, from 1:15-2:15 and 6:00-7:00 in the evening. This is happening during our celebration of National Lutheran Schools Week.

Sharing Our Blessings Service Projects: For the last two weeks we reported some great projects by our third and fourth graders. We misprinted one of the projects that Lucas Hagenow did. Lucas decided to bless his first-grade teacher, Mrs. McQueen and her husband, Mr. McQueen with cactus plants.
What's Your Story
The Birth of Jesus Christ: Luke 1:1-20, "In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when[ a ] Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed,[ b ] who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, 'Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!'

When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, 'Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.' And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them."

We are always looking for additional stories to share. Please click here to send us your story to be published in the Panther Press .
News & Notes
Can Collection: Did you know that the 7 th  and 8 th  graders have a collection bin for cans near the school SPLASH door? The proceeds will be used towards their class trip to Washington D.C. If you collect cans over the holidays, let them do the return work and it goes to a great cause! Students will be checking the bin over Christmas vacation and through the remainder of the school year.
Child Care during Christmas Break:  Christmas break is Dec. 23-Jan. 3. School will resume on Jan. 6. Child Care (including Toddler Care) will be available only two days during the break, Jan. 2-3. Please plan accordingly. If you are planning to have your child attend, it would be helpful to let Mrs. Fehn know by today. Thank you.

Thank You: Thank you to our PTL Teacher/Staff Appreciation committee for the delicious luncheon yesterday.  Liat Marlow, Emily Abraham, LeAnn Gerard, Katie McQueen, Sara Grunow, Nicole Love, Melissa McQueen, Rachel Smith and  Leigh Ann Starke did a great job  as always!
