Greetings,

RESILIENCY, The New Buzz Word:

The pandemic has been a huge historic moment in time that has caused all of us all of us to reset. We can refresh the American Dream and rebuild, revitalize, and restructure our economy and businesses.

Businesses, non profits, government, and education: HIT THE RESET BUTTON...

Definition of Resiliency:

  1. The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties;
  2. The ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity.

LLCEDC would love to assist with your resiliency plan.

Climber Loan Fund

The CLIMBER (Colorado Loans to Increase Mainstreet Business Economic Recovery) Loan Fund is a statewide program that will provide up to $250 million in working capital loans to Colorado small businesses through 2023. It will promote small businesses recovery, save jobs, and help support the Colorado economy.

The CLIMBER Loan Fund, with loans of up to half a million dollars, is designed to catalyze borrowing that might not otherwise be available. Below-market interest rates and favorable terms provide a secure recovery option for small businesses across Colorado. Special consideration is given to small businesses located in rural, distressed, and underserved areas, including communities with low to moderate incomes.

Cloud City Conservation Center's mission is to inspire stewardship of our natural resources by creating educational opportunities and lasting community infrastructure in Leadville and Lake County.

You might know us from our farm on the corner of 6th and McWethy where we host a weekly donation based produce market every Friday or from our Zero Waste work where we partner with local events to reduce the impact of their waste on our community and the environment. But did you also know that we help make Lake County homes more energy efficient and help pay past due utility bills so that Lake County residents don't have to worry about having their heat turned off in the middle of winter? We believe that a sustainable community supports both it's community members and the planet, that's why our vision is "Healthy Planet, Healthy People".

Over the last year we have shifted our work to ensure that our programs are accessible to everyone in Lake County and we've grown as a result - just a year ago we had one full time staff member and now we have three. We are so excited to re-engage with the EDC this year and work with Lake County businesses to reduce their environmental impact. Don't hesitate to reach out if you think there is a way we can work together to support a healthier planet and a healthier Lake County.

The LLCEDC will be highlighting key partners and members. Sustaining, growing and maintaining the future of Leadville/Lake County takes all of us.

May 2021 is Historic Preservation Month! While Historic Preservation Month celebrates historic places and the benefits of historic preservation, this campaign expands that vision to underscore the economic vitality of historic downtowns, and encourages the exploration of our distinctive businesses and public spaces in addition to historic buildings.

This campaign is a physically distanced, multi-community event that gathers the places important to locals and impressive to visitors through an online questionnaire.

The project celebrates the places and spaces that are authentically Colorado, and creates a living product that supports heritage tourists and Colorado stay-cation enthusiasts in identifying the businesses, public spaces, and historic landmarks to experience at their Main Street destination.

This information will ultimately create an interactive online map to explore the places locals recommend in each of our 21 unique, official Colorado Main Streets. It also provides local preservation commissions information on the buildings that matter most to their residents.
