Two new releases (v 1.12.1 , v 1.13.1 ) of the Immunization Calculation Engine (ICE) were issued over the past few month and are now available ( download ICE now! ). ICE is a state-of-the-art open-source software system that provides clinical decision support (CDS) for immunizations for use in Immunization Information Systems (IIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Personal Health Record (PHR) Systems. These releases include additional support for  Earliest Date and Overdue Date, an adjustment to the Pneumococcal catch-up schedule, and several other minor changes .  The ICE team expects that Earliest Date and Overdue Date for  the remaining vaccine groups will be completely supported in a future releases of ICE this summer.
HLN Updates One White Paper, Authors Another
HLN recently updated its 2014 white paper, IIS and EHR Feature Overlap , which reviews and discusses five such critical features. The paper offers insight into the likelihood and implications of feature movement from IIS to EHR, and offers recommendations to both the IIS and EHR communities for how to thoughtfully guide this migration.

In addition, the New York eHealth Collaborative ( NYeC ) recently published a new white paper authored by  Dr. Noam Arzt , President of HLN, titled  The Case for Payer Participation in Health Information Exchange . The paper discusses how payers who participate in HIEs can experience greater oversight and can be better equipped to manage and coordinate patient care.
