Weekly Director Letter 04/23/2021
Dear Parents,
This week we celebrated Earth Week. Some of our classes made items using recycled things from home to hammer in the message of reduce, reuse, and recycle. In the Science Lab, students sorted recycled lids then took them outside to put them on a gigantic graph. What a great way to use "trash" to teach math and science. Look for photos on Facebook. I will share a video of the lesson next week in Brightwheel.

This year we invited a parent from our school to do our cap and gown photos as well as retakes for kids who are new to our school. He did this to get experience photographing younger kids and to help us out as our photographer of 10 years has moved. The photos should be ready soon. There are a few kids that did not wish to smile and out of his kindness, he will provide those photos, but those parents will not be charged. If we billed you, we will refund the billing. Also with the cap and gown wallets, the prints were underexposed so parents will get those, but new ones have been ordered so you will get a second set that will be corrected at no cost.

Also regarding photos, if you did not have a chance to order your child's candid photos on the playground, Miranda from Playtime Candid will have those up for viewing and ordering until April 30th. To view the gallery go to www.playtimecandids.com and enter with the passcode KFKA.

Volunteer Opportunities: I have some small projects for a few parents who wish to take something home to do. I am looking for 2 parents who have a hot glue gun and another 2 to help put stickers on gifts we will be giving families. If you would like to help, send me a message in Brightwheel or by email and I will hook up with you next week.

Thank you to the fabulous parents of Green and Red Door who brought in goodies for our first of 5 teacher appreciation lunches. Our teachers' bellies were full and they could feel your love! We will continue this over the next 4 weeks as we show our gratitude to our fabulous staff. We were all so touched by the kindness of our families

Finally, if you have not signed up for your vacation time in the front window, please do so prior to May 1 so that we will make sure to not charge for the summer weeks you are taking off and we can also schedule our staff vacations.

Have a great weekend!
