United Moments with UWYC

Kim's Corner

United Way of Yellowstone County improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of the community. We provide leadership to effectively mobilize people and financial and strategic resources to improve people's lives.

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. Volunteer leadership comes in all forms. Some are episodic; others donate their time and brainpower on committees. Others serve in leadership capacities on a Board of Directors to govern agency operations. No matter the time or commitment, organizations like United Way of Yellowstone County wouldn’t be able to influence our community without dedicated individuals. This past year was no exception. We have 13 community leaders serving on our Board of Directors. I would like to give a special thanks to Brenda Koch, K-12 Executive Director/Leadership Support, Billings Public Schools, who graciously served as our Chair to guide us through a challenging year of not only the pandemic, but also a new President & CEO! Also, hats off to our retiring Board members: Joanne Peabody and Karla Stauffer. Both have served double terms and have made significant contributions. Notably, Karla served as Board Chair for several years and confidently led the President & CEO search. Karla also serves on the Governance & Nominating Committee, Executive Committee and Business Meets Community. Joanne serves on the Volunteer Center Advisory Council and Day of Caring committee. These three women are true examples of servant leaders—they’ve given their time, talent, and treasure to ensure United Way thrives.

Volunteers make a difference every single day at United Way. How do you see yourself impacting our community? Give me a call and let’s chat about getting you involved!

Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC), a community-wide, service learning program for Yellowstone County youth ages 11-18, is bouncing back following an almost complete shut down as a result of the COVID pandemic!

We are excited to announce the acceptance of a proposal to Montana Campus Compact for a Summer Associate VISTA who will be helping to open up YVC coming out of COVID.
