Office for International Students and Scholars
Hello,

Based on your previous communication with OISS, we understand that you will not make it to the University of Delaware in the Spring semester due to the travel restrictions related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We hope that you and your family are safe and healthy during this challenging time.

We’re checking in to see how you are doing and to offer assistance as you prepare for your return to campus this fall.

Please know that you can submit a Leave of Absence (LOA) form, which will allow you to return to campus for the Summer 2020 session or Fall 2020 semester. The office of your academic assistant dean will need to approve such requests and can answer any questions you may have. Make sure to note in the comments section of the LOA form that your leave is related to the COVID-19 and travel restrictions to the U.S. Read more about the implications of taking a LOA

OISS will follow up about immigration procedures after you submit the LOA form. While on leave, you may take courses at other universities. You should work with your advisor and the university to confirm feasibility for transfer of the credit back to the University of Delaware before you decide on which courses to take.

If you are a new student, you can defer your admission by contacting the  Undergraduate Admissions office. OISS will then work with you to get a new I-20 issued for the fall.

If you’re still not sure what to do, please contact OISS to speak with an international student advisor at oiss@udel.edu or (302) 831-2115.

Sincerely,

Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS)
