August 2019 Prayers
The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out. Proverbs 18:15
Week 1: August 1-8
Pray for the development of a School of Nursing at the Taxila Christian Hospital in Pakistan, which is part of the Christian Hospital Association of Pakistan (CHAP) network. Additional health workers trained by the program will provide much-needed care in Pakistan. 

Pray for people fleeing violence and dangerous conditions in Latin America. Prayers of thanks for churches welcoming them and for organizations advocating on their behalf. See Christianity Today
Week 2: August 9-16
Pray for a camp held August 16-17 at Kijabe Hospital in Kenya for HIV-positive youth. Prayers of thanks for the work of the hospital to serve the needs of the youth. May the camp be fulfilling for them.

Pray for children traumatized by the ongoing war in Syria and pray for counseling and holistic healing of their spiritual, mental and physical trauma. Pray for political will for those in power to find a solution to end the war.
Week 3: August 17-24
Pray for an end to violence and kidnapping in Nigeria by members of Boko Haram. Pray for Christians working in the region. 
 
Week 4: August 25-31
Pray for the work of International Care Ministries in the Philippines and its Transform project. Prayers of thanks for a program teaching healthy hygiene practices resulting in a 74% increase in proper hygiene practices.

Pray for the work of CCIH members working with communities to bring health tools to them in language they can understand. Prayers of thanks for the work of SIL LEAD and other organizations respecting and honoring the importance of local languages. See CCIH webinar on tools to bring family planning to communities
