One of the most important investments a vending operator makes nowadays is vending management software (VMS), which allows the business to manage its machines, its sales, its warehouse, its product selection and its deliveries in a cost-efficient manner.

A VMS allows a vending operation to use more accurate data for making business decisions. It is also an important tool for utilizing other technology tools such as item level tracking, warehouse pre-kitting, dynamic route scheduling and other functions. Selecting the right VMS requires investing time to research different systems, having people on staff to assist in implementing the VMS and in utilizing it in the company’s operations.

During the recent National Automatic Merchandising Association show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Larry Greenwall, owner of Greenwall Vending based in Poplar Bluff, Mo., gave an overview of how his company decided on what VMS to use.

AutoCrib recently introduced its Qwixtor retail vending machine. The machine is designed to vend large square or rectangular boxes or packages, which minimizes the need for repackaging items to fit in helix coil machines or carousels that use pie shaped bins, and can hold up to 987 SKUs.

The machine is reconfigurable. The patented plastic bin shelf system, paired with the flexible tambour style door offers the ability to eliminate vertical bin “height” waste common with fixed door machines.

The machine supports a wide range of payment options, including fingerprint scan, proximity cards, key fobs, magstripe cards, barcodes, keypad PINs and existing employee badges. Its ID reader verifies the customer’s age for age restricted products such as razors and sharp pens.

Nespresso Professional announced the launch of the first two coffee machines – single and double head – of the Nespresso Momento range, a new addition to its professional offering that has been developed for the office sector.

Nespresso Momento is designed to deliver authentic, sustainable, high quality coffee experiences that bring people together in office environments.

“Today’s office world is changing rapidly: less structured, more global, more diverse, with teams working from remote locations. This makes human interaction even more valuable as we all know that face-to-face discussions can trigger great creativity, often over a cup of coffee. We designed the Nespresso Momento range to be at the heart of these exchanges, enhancing the meaningful employee relationships that create business value,” said Francisco Nogueira, global head of out-of-home at Nestlé Nespresso.

Apriva, LLC , a technology company providing an adaptive platform for secure mobile communications and omnichannel payments, and AveriGo, LLC , a software solutions provider for the vending and foodservice industries, have introduced a technology that allows operators to launch new micro markets in a matter of hours and profitably deploy even at small locations.

“All you need is a cooler, some shelves, and our Bluetooth beacon at each location,” said WiIfred Martis, vice president of marketing at AveriGo. “Shoppers simply download our app and they’re ready to grab, buy, and go.”
