Experience the World and Celebrate Diversity this Wednesday February 26!
|
HPS International Night is this Wednesday, February 26 from 6 to 8 pm!
Come experience Mexico, India, Romania, the Netherlands, Germany, Wales, Hungary, and many more countries. Students will be given a "passport" where they will collect stamps as they walk through the school and visit cultural experiences spanning the globe. Taste the food, learn cultural traditions, see different styles of clothing and art, hear the music-- it's a night to celebrate the diversity that enriches our world, country, and school.
If you still would like to add to the display of countries, please contact
Ms. Fischer
or
Mrs. Scott.
You can choose a country where you have roots, or even where you've simply visited. The more countries presented, the better the experience! There are also still some open volunteer positions during the event, which can be found
by clicking here.

"Leggo" & Donate Your Old Legos!
|
Ms. Mendelson and Mr. Cassidy are leading the Stop Motion Animation Elective with 3rd through 6th Graders, and they are looking for some easy-to-find donations. (Stop Motion Animation is a technique used in animation to bring static objects to life on screen by moving the object in increments while filming a frame per increment). Many students in the elective are interested in creating stop motion films with Legos, so
Ms. Mendelson, Mr. Cassidy, and the students are seeking donations of Lego people, accessories, and bricks!
So if you have any Legos collecting dust, you can "leggo" of them (haha! I'm hilarious!) for some early Spring Cleaning, and drop them off to the Main Office in a bag or box marked "Mendelson" or "Cassidy." Thank you!

Spring Celebration: Better Than Ever & Much to Celebrate in 2020!
|
On Friday April 17th from 7-11 pm the Hyde Park School PTO will host the Eighth Annual Spring Celebration at MadTree Brewing.
This Adults Only event welcomes HPS parents, staff, and community members to celebrate the accomplishments of our amazing school. The evening will feature a silent auction, raffle baskets, a student art auction, a cash bar, and hors d'oeuvres. It's the perfect opportunity to get to know other members of our wonderful community and have a Friday night out.
How can you help?
The Spring Celebration is also Hyde Park School's largest fundraiser of the year, and you can help firsthand.
- Plan to attend and book your babysitter!
- Become a family or business sponsor. Click here for more information, including the sponsorship levels. Watch for an email coming soon about how to become a family sponsor and have your name added to the list of family sponsors.
- Donate items or services for the silent auction. Click here for more information.
- We need lots of volunteers. Volunteer opportunities are abound, suiting everyone's interests, strengths, and time constraints. Some volunteer roles include seeking donations from local businesses, creating raffle baskets, and helping on the day of the event. But there are many other options too. You can check out all of the available roles here.
Funds from this event directly benefit our children by bringing all proceeds to Hyde Park School. This helps bridge the gap between CPS funding and the needs of our students at HPS. In the past, funds raised have accomplished significant projects such as building the new playground our HPS children and the community use on a daily basis. This year, the money raised will fund field trips, playground upkeep, new technology, teachers' supplies, and much more. So start getting babysitters lined up for the
Spring Celebration on Friday, April, 17th from 7-11 pm at MadTree Brewing.
