August  2019 Newsletter
New Work:
Segue Into Summer

- Work with large scale prints,
- Use hand dyed fabrics,
- Consider some ugly colors.
Check, check, and check.
These were some of my goals as I tackled this piece.

Working abstractly, with diverse fabrics, and without much of a plan was definitely challenging. But, as things came together it was also exhilarating! I'm sure I'll do this kind of thing again.

Apples in Asheville

As always, the students in my recent "Double Reverse Applique" class did great work!

It's always fun to see the variety of apples created.

Vine Ripened Wins Again

I was delighted to win a third place award at the National Juried Fiber Arts Exhibition in Bedford, VA. It will be on display through August 17th, so if you're in southwestern Virginia, you can check it out.

Click the Art on Tour button at the bottom of every newsletter to see where my quilts are on display.
What's New

You know you're in the south when you see the drinks at right for sale. We found these near Boone at Mast General Store. I got to visit the mountains of North Carolina twice in the last month!

As a Floridian, it is SO refreshing to enjoy some cooler mountain air. And then there's the scenery! I hope you're enjoying your summer, as well.
