Kip's Hooked on Crochet Class

This is a free class for 13 year olds to adults to learn the chain stitch, single crochet stitch and double crochet stitch. Kip is a local teen with both the passion and the talent to teach this fun craft. Learning these 3 stitches, one can end up making scarves, blankets, afghans and beyond!!!!

Berea Celtic Festival 

August 16-18

The Berea Celtic Festival has over the years drawn numerous excellent musicians and singers to town for this traditional, grassroots and puredrop event. A low-budget, cozy, reliable fest that encourages musicians to meet, inspire and play at sessions, workshops and concerts throughout town. Most events are free of charge, but there will be admissions for other ones to cover our expenses.

Drum Healing with Joan Brannon

This exhibit features quilts by Kentucky Quilters Janet Serrenho, Brenda Plaster and Glenna Blakely along with an array of furniture including rockers, end tables, music stands, tables, chairs and stools by Mike and Kelly Angle of Red Dog Chairs.












Pass it On: Exhibit of works by Learnshop Instructors
(June 30, 2019 - October 20, 2019)

The Kentucky Artisan Center will showcase the works of over 50 Learnshop                            Instructors
in the exhibit "Pass it On" in the Center's lobby from June 30 - Oct. 20, 2019. Berea's Festival of Learnshops offers over 160 workshops by outstanding professional artists, musicians, writers and craftspeople. This exhibit includes a wide variety of mediums and techniques from painting to furniture, sculpture and jewelry. Viewers can see the wi de array of talent these Learnshop instructors are passing on to their students.

Originally from Rochester, New York, Sabra L. Crockett has lived in numerous locations                   t hroughout the south before finding her home in Louisville, Kentucky. There she enjoys being surrounded
 by beautiful songbirds and a spectacular variety of trees.
 
"I am fascinated by nature. It has a secret language that I try to decipher. There is a feeling I get when observing the birds, animals, and trees - a feeling that I am experiencing something that is so familiar, and yet so extraordinary," she states. "I have been visiting one of the largest and oldest Ginko trees in Louisville for many years now and the painting in this exhibit is the first in a series about this tree."

Pottery Face Jugs Created by Robert Brigl

Robert Brigl will demonstrate how he sculpts faces onto his wheel thrown clay jugs from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Artisan Center. Brigl's Plum Springs Pottery is located in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and he creates a range of face mugs as well.

John Dixon Demonstrates Wood Engraving

Danville artist John Dixon will demonstrate the intricacies of wood engraving from 10:30 to 3:30 at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea. Wood engravings are an intricate form of illustration. Dixon studies with Canadian wood engraver Wesley Bates and prints his engravings at Larkspur Press in Kentucky.

Demonstration from the Berea Welcome Center Carvers. 

Two members of the Berea Welcome Center Carvers will demonstrate a variety of woodcarving styles and techniques at the Kentucky Artisan Center

Animal Mugs Demonstrated by Marshia Hawkins

On Saturday, Aug. 24, Marshia Hawkins, of Winchester, KY, will demonstrate how she sculpts animals onto her wheel thrown clay mugs from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Center.

Pottery on the Wheel Demonstrated by
 Kristal Gilkey of Alley Cat Pottery

On Saturday, Aug. 31, Kristal Gilkey will demonstrate pottery on the wheel from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Center. Gilkey owns Alley Cat Pottery and her work is both colorful and functional.

Free Narrated Trolley Tour of Berea

Free Narrated Trolley Tour of Berea: The trolley will run every Saturday until October 12, 2019. The tours will start at 10am at the Kentucky Artisan Center, then stop at the Artisan Village, Chestnut Street Park, Boone Tavern, and back to the Kentucky Artisan Center. The tours are approximately 40-45-minutes round trip. You may get on and off at any stop. Trolley Tour schedules are available upon request. Please call with any questions: 859-986-2450.

Welcome to CrossFit Berea where we value our community. Our Strong Hearts | Strong Community Saturday Charity WOD at 9am will be dedicated to a different charity each month. You may be asked to bring in canned food, pet supplies, or even a little cash to help out those folks we feel need a hand up. So join us and bring a friend. We will never turn you away, should you forget your donation. And we will surely appreciate everything you can give.
Our Saturday WOD is family friendly and everyone is welcome. However, before you can participate, you need to fill out a waiver! So stop in a little early if you have not done that yet.

The Mindful Way to Emotional Balance- A Nine Week Workshop

Summer is a great time to go outside and see Kentucky's natural beauty. Come visit Berea and hike through our breathtaking trails!
You can see a waterfall, stunning views of the mountains, and also enjoy the beauty of the flowers blooming. 

Maps to hike or bike some of Berea's various trails are located in the Welcome Center at 3 Artist Circle off of N. Broadway and on our website at www.visitberea.com/recreation-nature

Enjoy scenic views at the Pinnacles and Anglin Falls, take a nice stroll or bike ride along one of our lovely shared use paths through town, or launch your kayak at Owsley Fork Reservoir. Your experience is waiting for you!
