Message from the Minister
Message from the Minister
Dear Spiritual Community,
I am coming up on my one-year anniversary as the minister of Unity Christ Center. Time has indeed "flown" as they say. It seems like only yesterday we were all unloading the U-Haul van into our new house in Shawtown. That house has become a home for us, including for our three cats, Buster, Missy, and Shadow. This year we planted a vegetable garden and several fruit trees. We even bought a small swimming pool! Tomorrow night we'll experience Country Jam for the first time from the lawn chair comfort of our backyard - our neighbors told us to do that. Donna and I continue to feel more a part of the center and Eau Claire community every day. I can even drive around town without GPS!
It is my hope that the ministry we're working together to build here is one you're excited about participating in. We've begun some projects through the strategic planning sessions we had back in the winter that we'll continue to nurture. We all mourn the passing of our dear Florence Garrison, and will further our music ministry upon her legacy and consciousness. We've had some fun times - the Valentine service/luncheon, special dinners, ice cream/pie social, and work parties come to mind. Our work with social justice through our membership in JONAH and the establishment of our Green Team is so important to our giving back to our greater community and world. Our ministry is indeed a beacon of Truth and Light to many.
Donna and I are looking forward to our second year in Eau Claire and at Unity Christ Center.
With richest blessings,
Alden

The Power for August is "Will"
Affirmation:
I choose my good based on spiritual understanding.
Will-
The ability to choose, decide, command, lead, determine.
The disciple is Matthew.
He represents the decision-making part of the brain.
The corresponding color is silver and the location is the center of the brain.
Reeducate Your Executive Faculty
By Winifred Wilkinson Hausmann
It is our job in developing our God-given potentialities to reeducate the will, the directing power of our mind, to teach it to become receptive to spiritual motivation, rather than to goals determined by our materialistic pursuits alone.
... One way or another, we are using our will, our executive mind power, all the time. We choose a course of action. We resist or resent. We submit or fight back. We aim high or we slide backward. Or we are willing to consecrate and dedicate our will to God and to let it be reeducated to go His way.
Jesus was our great Way Shower in overcoming the human, selfish motivation of the will and allowing it to be replaced by a great unification with the divine will, thus producing good for all.
... The rewards of unifying our wills with the will of God are great. They include health, happiness, joy, peace, harmony, prosperity and other good that we cannot even visualize in our present state of consciousness.
... Many inharmonies in human relationships result from the clash of human wills. Learning to activate the divine will in your life does not mean that you will simply submit to the human will of others. Instead, it will give you a new freedom that recognizes the human force applied by others but does not submit to it.
... When you find yourself confronted by a strong will that insists you go its way, turn within to the Christ, the God Self, the spiritual core of your nature, and silently say to the other person, "The Christ in me beholds the Christ in you." Let the love of God and the understanding of the spiritual nature of that other person pour forth from you so strongly that there is no conflict of human wills. Rather, there is a higher power at work, establishing harmony and order.
... We can start first to awaken the will and train it by consciously watching its activities and directing it through our growing spiritual understanding.
