Important Feast Days In August

Tuesday, August 6 - The Feast of the Transfiguration.
This feast marks Christ's transfiguration on Mt. Tabor in the presence of three of the disciples. It is one of the 12 Great Feasts of the Church Year. There will be a Vigil on the evening before the Feast and a Divine Liturgy on the morning.

Thursday, August 15 - Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God
This feast marks the death of the Theotokos. It is the most solemn feast day dedicated to Mary and is one of the 12 Great Feasts. The Vigil on the evening before is a very beautiful devotion to her. There will be a Divine Liturgy on the morning.

Thursday, August 29 - The Beheading of St. John the Baptist
This is the primary feast for St. John the Baptist, commemorating his beheading under the wicked King Herod. There is a Liturgy on that morning.
Fr. Daniel Is in Moscow!

Fr. Daniel is in Moscow as part of a clergy exchange program between the OCA and the Russian Patriarchate. He is with Bishop David and other clergy representing various dioceses of the American Church. The trip is part pilgrimage, part exposure to Church life in Russia, and part of the continued fraternal relations between our two Churches.

Here he is pictured in the Tretyakov Gallery with the "Holy Trinity" icon painted by St. Andrei Rublev.

Please let us keep him in our prayers!

There is special offering to help support Fr. Daniel's travel expenses.
Women's Book Discussion Group

The St. Anne's Women’s Book Discussion Group  will meet on Sunday, September 8 , from 4-6 pm, at Debra Mattingly's house.

Bring a snack to share if you wish and we will eat and socialize from 4 - 4:30. We will begin the book discussion promptly at 4:30 and end promptly at 6. All are welcome!

The discussion will be on   Dr. Albert Rossi’s book ,   Becoming a Healing Presence  (Ancient Faith Publishing). Come and join us for discussion (even if you haven’t read the book!)

In order to become a healing presence for others, we must first be healed ourselves—through an active relationship with the great Healer, Christ. Drawing on the teachings of the Fathers and saints of the Church, Dr. Rossi gently points the way toward deepening our love for God and for each other so that others may experience Christ through us.”
Coffee Hour Plan for This Sunday

Our new plan for managing Coffee Hour continues this week. This is week 1 in August, served by those  whose last names begin with A-D.  Plan to bring food and to share in the clean up. If you are not able to attend, please contact someone to fill in for you. Thank you for your generous service!

Let us break bread together!
