Free and Reduced Lunch Application

Lunch Charge Policy
We want to remind families that it is important for students to have enough money in their account or cash with them to buy a full-price or reduced-price meal. This is because it is important to us that we feed every kid, every day.

Students in grades K-6 can now receive, or charge, three meals after they have no more money in their account. After they have received the three meals, they will then get up to 10 "Grab & Go" meals at no cost until they have more money placed in their account. Grab & Go meals consist of a grain, a protein, fresh fruit or vegetables, milk or water and access to the salad bar. Students in grades 7-12 cannot charge meals, but will receive up to 10 Grab & Go meals until they have more money in their account or cash in hand to purchase a meal.

For more complete information, please  see this flyer for K-6 and  this flyer for 7-12.

Back to School Tips from Teachers
Set your child up for success with these 20 simple tips from teachers! Whether your child is in elementary, middle or high school, these simple pointers from teachers can help make back to school a smooth transition. The full list can be found here, but here are some of the tips by age:

Elementary School
Get your kids excited before school starts for an easier transition! Shop for a cool lunch box or backpack in the weeks leading up to school.

Middle School
You're probably more nervous than your child. Parents have a hard time—on so many levels—transitioning from elementary to middle school. Their sons and daughters are growing up! But kids see this as an exciting time. They could be going to a new school in a new environment with new teachers and new kids. I know it’s easier said than done, but please don’t convey to your kids that you’re anxious because they’ll feel anxious too.

High School
Encourage extracurriculars. The work in high school can sometimes feel overwhelming. Finding something that interests teens and surrounds them with people who like that same thing can provide a welcome escape and be the key to staying positive. For instance, my daughter was involved in theater, French and art clubs. Those connections really helped her when things were tough.

Before and After School Care - Enrolling Now
Englewood Schools partners with Champions for before and after school care that is fun and educational. Champions is available at Bishop, Charles Hay, Cherrelyn and Clayton, and all programs are enrolling now!

Champions offers a fun environment where kids can explore art, theater, language, reading, math and more! There's also daily homework help.

Have questions or want to enroll now?

Safety Procedures in Englewood Schools
In Englewood Schools, the safety and security of our staff and students is our top priority. That's why we have safety plans in place, and regularly practice those plans with students through drills.

To ensure clear communication and procedures during an emergency, we use what is called the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The SRP is based on five possible actions in case of an emergency: Lockout, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter and Hold. In the event of an emergency, the action and appropriate direction will be called out on the PA system in a school.

LOCKOUT - "Secure the Perimeter"
LOCKDOWN - "Locks, Lights, Out of Sight"
EVACUATE - "To the Announced Location"
SHELTER - "For a Hazard Using a Safety Strategy"
HOLD - "Remain Your Classroom"

All of our staff and students are trained to be familiar with these actions through practice and drills.

This handout explains more in-depth each action and when each action is used. Please familiarize yourself with these phrases, as when an emergency arises, we will communicate with parents explaining the action that has been taken to keep students and staff safe during an emergency.
Legal Information
Each year, we are required to inform parents of certain legal information. Please read these notices below:

Information Regarding Registered Sex Offenders
State law (Section 22-1-124, C.R.S.), requires that all schools notify parents of enrolled students that they have the right to access law enforcement agency information concerning registered sex offenders. Although the public has previously had the legal right to access these lists, state law requires school districts to notify parents of this right. You may request a sex offender list at your local law enforcement office (in the jurisdiction in which you reside) or at the law enforcement office in the area where your children attend school. Some local law enforcement agencies also post sex offender information on their websites. Check with your local law enforcement agency to determine the appropriate process for requesting a list of registered sex offenders within their jurisdiction. Additional information can be found at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s website  https://apps.colorado.gov/apps/dps/sor/  and the Colorado Department of Education’s website at  https://goo.gl/9quIjW .
