Rappel Rescue by Jason Moninger, LCSO SWAT Team/Sniper Team Leader (Monday Only) / Feb. 25 from 8 a.m. - noon and 1-5 p.m. / Rappel Tower: Attendees will be shown a rappel demo which will include the use of all necessary rappel equipment, emergency tie-off and self-rescue techniques, and use of the stretcher to lower casualties to safety. Also included will be a brief discussion on knots, tie-backs, and rope uses. One to two other volunteers from SWAT Team to assist which will include other demonstrations.
Onsite Trauma Care for the Mining Industry by Dr. William Brooks, President of Advanced Trauma Specialties, LLC / Feb. 25 from 1-5 p.m., Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. - noon / Classroom Building, Room #112: This lecture will be a compilation of basic and advanced trauma care/bleed control for industrial injuries and active assailant (shooter) scenarios. It is intended to give company first responder teams tools and skills to utilize to minimize loss of limb or life prior to EMS arrival.
Medical Response to Trauma by John Coffman of Armada Ammunition / Feb. 25 from 8 a.m. - noon at DRM-007 and Feb. 26 from 1-4 p.m. at Classroom Building, Room #112: Medical Response to Trauma is a four-phase program designed to test the technical and tactical skills, resiliency and adaptability to unforeseen circumstances in a deadly force encounter. With those attributes and a string skill set in defensive training and emergency medical treatment, students should be able to strive for success and be able to overcome the intricacies of a trauma encounter.
