With great sadness, we regret to inform everyone that John Morgan (Founder of Morgan & Eklund, Inc) unexpectedly passed away February 11th. Professionally, John was a legend in the South Florida survey industry. Personally, he was a prince of a man, loved and respected by all that had the great pleasure of working with him.
John was born in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania. After High School, he attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a BA in Environmental Science. In 1978, John started working for Arthur V. Strock Inc., one of the pioneering coastal engineering companies in South Florida. At Arthur V. Strock Inc, John worked in the hydrographic survey group and soon began overseeing all hydrographic survey operations.
In 1985, he founded Morgan & Eklund, Inc. (M&E) along with Ronald Eklund (deceased) and David Coggin. John's credibility and personal relationships with his customers was key to M&E's continued success over the decades.
In 2017, M&E joined the CSA family and John continued to lead the company into its next chapter as part of the CSA family.
The world is a sadder and less interesting place without John here to tell stories. John will be missed deeply by his employees, colleagues,
long-time clients and his many friends. John's legacy with M&E will carry on.
There will be a Celebration of Life for John Morgan this Saturday.
