Rev. Veronica Cannon
This Sunday, Aug 4 is Veronica's last sermon (that is currently scheduled) at Avondale. We give thanks for this Interim Pastor. Please come celebrate her and her gifts of time and talents shared with Avondale. Following worship will be a reception. 
(Also, please share prayers for her sister, Vickie Obey.)
VBS at ACC
Serve on Board of Children's Center
The Avondale Children's Center is seeking several new board members. Are you interested in serving on the ACC board? 
Please read and respond by August 1, 2019. 
And please spread the word! 
Music Ministry
- Our Choir and Band are on break from rehearsals. They return on Aug 7. Rehearsals are moving to Wednesdays! 
- Handbells are on a rehearsal break too and will return late Aug/early September.
- Youth Choir begins Sun, Sept 8 at 4:30 PM and will follow the Youth Group schedule.   
- Music Ministry has openings in the choir, band and handbells.  If you enjoy singing or playing an instrument and being a part of a great group of people, consider joining our Music Ministry!  Making sacred music is a joyful undertaking. Contact Rich for details. 
Rev. Jim Ewing received into Presbytery of Charlotte        Aug 17
On Sat, Aug 17, Rev. Jim Ewing will be received into the Presbytery of Charlotte at the stated Presbytery Meeting. Avondale members are invited to join in support of Jim. Meet at  First Presbyterian Church of Wadesboro by 9:30 AM or ride on the Avondale bus, leaving at 8 AM. To reserve your seat, email Zach.
A few details for Rev. Jim Ewing 
* Jim will start in the office on Mon, Aug 5
* Jim will be present but not preaching on Aug 11
* On Aug 11, after the service, the Congregation will have a chance to meet Jim and his family
* On Aug 18, Jim will lead his first worship service at Avondale
* Small group settings will be set up in the fall for Avondalers to meet the family in a more intimate setting
Music Fundraiser -  Instruments for Children!
In keeping with Avondale's emphasis on children and having beautiful music, a fundraiser was approved to help expand our music ministry with children! We would like to purchase instruments for children. Your help is needed to make this happen! This fundraiser is open to all - Avondalers and the community! Give online, spread the word!  www.avondalepresbychurch.org/children

when you come out for "Dinner with Friends", a women's group that enjoys dining together at a different restaurant each month. Our next gathering is at: Persuasian Restaurant (near the church!) at 2214 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28203.

CELEBRATING 75 YEARS
75th
"Avondale, Did You Know?" 
Building more space...
In 1948, Avondale needed more space for Christian Education, so they purchased an old photographic laboratory from a military base (Morris Field). It was transported to the church and was called "The Hut".
75th Anniversary Celebration

Baptized on July 28, 2019 in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, was Hudson Liam Vorholt, son of Dana and Beth Vorholt.
Church Triumphant
It is with sadness that we share that Martha Meunier joined the Church Triumphant on July 17, 2019 (b. July 11, 1932). A service will be held on August 6 at 11 AM in the Sanctuary and will be followed by a brief i nternment in the Sacred Garden and receiving of friends and family in the Fellowship Hall.
