Charlotte County Community Development (FL)
Charlotte County Community Development is a Department of the County of Charlotte, Florida, serving a population of approximately 160,000. The Department's mission is to administer and enforce the County's land development and building construction regulations, the Florida Building Code, and to prepare and implement the County's Comprehensive Plan. The three Divisions of the Community Development Department are the Building Construction, Planning & Zoning, and Special Projects Divisions.

US Water Alliance and The Kresge Foundation Host Nine City Urban Flooding Bootcamp
Last week, nine cities gathered in Troy, MI at the headquarters of
The Kresge Foundation for a groundbreaking event,
Climate Resilience, Water, and Equity: An Urban Flooding Bootcamp.
This initiative is the first of its kind to establish cross-sector learning teams dedicated to building equitable resilience in urban flood management. Utilities, city agencies, local government, community-based organizations and advocates, and environmental groups gathered to learn the latest science on climate change, flooding, and to discuss how to address urban flooding through infrastructural and community-based solutions.

WA.
The Bootcamp participants are already finding ways to put equity at the center of urban flood resilience. The teams left the Bootcamp with commitments to action, including hosting an educational presentation for other city agencies and advocates, establishing an advisory committee for city flooding led by representatives of vulnerable communities, pitching an equity framework for a city's flood mitigation plan, and much more.

The webinar spotlighted three One Water Delegations and how they are making progress in their regions and watersheds. Panelists included members of the Urban Waters, Texas Hill Country, and Research Triangle Delegations.

Value of Water Campaign Prepares for Imagine a Day Without Water 2019
On October 23, join the Value of Water Campaign for the fifth annual national day of education and awareness: Imagine a Day Without Water. On this day we ask the question: what would your day be like if you turned on the tap, or flushed the toilet, and nothing happened? Millions of Americans take water service for granted every day, but for many, clean, reliable water isn't a guarantee.
Over 200 participants have already signed up this year to raise awareness and educate the country about the value of the water infrastructure. To help, the Value of Water Campaign has uploaded a new round of Imagine a Day Without Water 2019 resources. On the Imagine a Day Without Water site, you can find our 2019 messaging framework, new social media graphics, logos, and more. Don't forget to sign up today and help spread the #ValueWater message. Inaugural Member-Only One Water Leadership Institute Launches in Madison
The US Water Alliance's inaugural member-only
One Water Leadership Institute
took place June 25-26 in Madison, WI. Hosted by the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District, the Institute brought 36 water professionals from the Alliance member network to focus on the
Adaptive Leadership
challenges we all face on a daily basis. The Institute was facilitated by
Michael Mucha
, Chief Engineer and Director of the
Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District, Chair of the US Water Alliance's One Water Council.
Attendees had the opportunity to network with their peers from around the country and strengthen their practice of leadership through the Adaptive Leadership framework. The Framework outlines a systemic, practical set of strategies and tools to help innovative leaders make progress on difficult challenges.
The second and final One Water Leadership Institute of 2019 will take place November 7-8 in San Jose, CA. Hosted by

, the Institute will focus on
