Sage Releases ENDEC Firmware Upgrade
RadioWorld reports that EAS equipment maker Sage Alerting Systems has announced a firmware upgrade for its ENDEC Model 3644.  The upgrade, #89-32, adds Blue Alert functionality. Blue Alerts are warnings about police that may be in trouble or are issuing a related emergency message. They are currently voluntary. Read More

Michigan State of the State Address Rescheduled for February 12
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has moved the date of her first State of the State Address to February 12. Whitmer was scheduled to deliver the speech on Tuesday, February 5. But US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced she would invite President Donald Trump to deliver his State of the Union address on the same day.   Read More

Senator Introduces Lobby Ban Bill for Former Lawmakers
Senator Jim Runestad (R-15) introduced Senate Bill 57, which bars former members of the Legislature from registering as lobbyists for two years after leaving office and, for former committee chairs, the cooling-off period would be three years.  Read More

Steven Karl Meuché: 1944-2019
The MAB has learned that former WKAR Director of Broadcasting Steven Meuché, passed away January 23 at age 74. He received both a B.A. and M.A. in telecommunications from Michigan State University. He spent his career, beginning in 1965, at MSU, where he eventually became the general manager of WKAR radio stations and director of Broadcasting Services.  Read More

Midwest Family Broadcasting has launched Classic Rock "95.7 The Lake" on the HD2 channel of WQLQ-FM as well as translator W239CJ (Benton Harbor).  Read More

WKCQ's Kevin Profitt Set To Retire In March
Longtime MacDonald Broadcasting/WKCQ-FM (Saginaw) air personality Ken Profitt has announced his retirement, effective Friday, March 22.  Profitt spent 38 years with the company as an on-air host and, in recent years, served as Assistant Program Director.   Read More

WXYT Hosts Receive Accolades In Nationwide Poll
In a new nationwide pole of Fifty-one radio executives from thirty cities and thirteen companies conducted by Barrett Sports Media (BSM), WXYT-FM (Detroit) morning personalities Jamie and Stoney w/Heather and afternoon personality Mike Valenti were voted #16 and #2 for their respective time periods.  Read More
