Governor Whitmer to Deliver State of the State Address February 5
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has announced that her first State of the State Address will be Tuesday, February 5 at 7 p.m. from the House Chamber of the Michigan Capitol. The MAB will offer a pool feed of the address, with feeds for both TV and radio.   Read More

Dave Hildenbrand Joins Kelley Cawthorne
MAB's lobbying firm Kelley Cawthorne announced this past Monday that Lansing veteran Dave Hildenbrand will join its team of government relations professionals.  Hildenbrand was a member of the Michigan Senate from 2011 through 2018.  Read more

U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Greg Walden (R-OR) issued the following statement after announcing the subcommittee Ranking Members for the 116th Congress: "The American people expect results, and I am confident that the leadership team Republicans are putting forward is ready to deliver."  Read More

Longtime U.P. Broadcaster Norman Koski Dies
The MAB has learned that Norman Koski, longtime Upper Peninsula broadcaster, passed away January 9 at the age of 80.  Koski, along with three partners, purchased WHDF-AM in Houghton in 1979, changing the call letters to WCCY-AM.  He sold the station in 1983.  Read more

WXYZ's Brad Galli Voted Michigan Sportscaster of the Year
The National SportsMedia Association has named WXYZ-TV (Detroit) sports anchor Brad Galli 2018 Michigan Sportscaster of the Year.   Read More

Ida Tedesco Joins WILX-TV
Gray Television's WILX-TV (Lansing) has announced a new addition to their on-air staff.  Ida Tedesco will join Kirk Montgomery as Co-Anchor of News Ten Today (4:30 - 7:00 a. m. Monday - Friday) starting March 4, alongside Chief Meteorologist Darrin Rockcole.  Read more

iHeartMedia has announced that it has moved WZEE-FM (Madison, WI) APD/MD Aly Presser into the program director position at co-owned WSNX-FM (Grand Rapids).  Read more

MSU Basketball Coach & Broadcaster Gus Ganakas Passes
Former MSU men's basketball coach and broadcaster Gus Ganakas passed away January 11 at the age of 92.  Ganakas served as head coach from 1969 to 1976 before serving as an assistant athletics director from 1976-98; and then as an aide to current Head Coach Tom Izzo from 1998-2000.  Read more

WKAR to Host PBS Kids Day January 26
WKAR Public Media will be hosting "PBS Kids Day" on Saturday, January 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The event is free for viewers and their families and will feature hands-on activities for kids, resources for parents and a visit from Super WHY!  Read more

WXMI Celebrates 20 years of Local News
On January 11, Tribune Media's WXMI-TV (Grand Rapids) celebrated 20 years of news coverage.  It was in 1999 when West Michigan viewers got their first 10:00 p.m. newscast. Read more
