Food for Thought is a monthly, members-only e-newsletter from the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology (CIFST).
PRESIDENTIAL FODDER
The summer months are supposed to be the slow season, yet at CIFST things are heating up!

Those looking for an exciting career change or their first position after graduation continue to see a steady cadence of opportunities on our members only job postings board during this hiring season.

It’s been a pleasure to see this organization continue to grow, with our many volunteers working hard to bring you the great events and professional development resources that will provide an endcap to the summer.

The recently announced webinar , Future Skills for Food Processing by Amy Proulx (Professor and Academic Program Coordinator of Culinary Innovation and Food Technology – Niagara College), will add to our webinar series – a great value to our association members for keeping their skills and knowledge up to date in the tumultuous and fast-changing food industry.

Our provincial sections continue to lead the way in adding value to our members, hosting a great suite of networking and business events to end a great summer and kick off the fall season.

CIFST Quebec and CIFST Ontario both will be hosting golf tournaments in their respective provinces in September, so if you’re looking to practice your swing and do some travelling you could even challenge yourself to attend both!

CIFST Manitoba will be hosting their international Supplier Expo trade show in October, bringing value to technologists, food scientists, purchasers, managers, and all members of the food and beverage industry. With a growing list of exhibitors, it’s an event that’s worth attending this coming October.

I mentioned in my previous message that the growth and survival of CIFST depends on the collaboration and participation of all its sections. The CIFST Board of Directors and I look forward to working with you!

Here’s to the rest of a great summer and a thriving future. Please reach out to me, Tim Stover (CIFST Executive Director), or any of our board members if you have any thoughts or questions. I look forward to hearing from you!
