Dear Neighbor,

On Wednesday October 7th, the 41st Ward Zoning Advisory Committee held a virtual meeting to hear three proposals. Below you will find a link to view a recording of the meeting. The video also includes comments and questions from residents during the meeting. Their comments are posted on the right-hand side of the screen.
Below you will also find individual survey links for each proposal where you can express your support or opposition. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Please note that the sale or lease of each property is contingent on the requested change in zoning. As always, a change in zoning will only be granted if the community supports the request.

 Recommended Halloween Guidelines

  1. Masks aren't just for trick-or-treaters this year! Everyone-including candy givers-should wear a face covering (multi-layered, covering the mouth and nose, without gaps around the face).
  2. Leave a light on or hang a Halloweek sign in your window to let others know your house is giving out candy safely.
  3. Handing out candy? Please socially distance and have hand sanitizer, too.
  4. Trick or treating? Stay on the move! Less congregating means more houses and more candy.
  5. Ensure there's all treats and no tricks. Please don't reach into candy bowls while trick or treating, and eat candy only at home after washing your hands.
  6. No Haunted Houses. They are truly spooky and dangerous this year.
  7. Keep your candy crew small. Trick-or-treating groups should be 6 people or less.
  8. No house parties large or small this year.

Below are some printable signs for you to notify
41st Ward Goblins and Ghouls if you are partaking in Halloween Trick-Or-Treating this year.

The flu vaccine has saved millions of lives. It is safe, effective, and available at no cost citywide at many doctor's offices, pharmacies, community health centers, and flu clinics.

CDPH Commissioner Allison Arwady, M.D."What will happen this fall and winter is uncertain, but it is likely that there will be both COVID-19 and seasonal flu activity. Getting the seasonal flu vaccination before the end of October is the best way to protect yourself, your loved ones, your community and the global community from the flu."

Please visit www.chicago.gov/flu for more information and to locate any of the city-wide community flu clinics to get your flu shot at no cost.

Currently, crews are in the 41st ward upgrading our entire lighting system. This includes an upgrade from the outdated high pressure sodium fixtures to better quality, more reliable LED light fixtures. Please note, street lights will be on during the day while the upgrade process is ongoing. Fixtures installed will be the same throughout the city to maintain uniform brightness.
