Partnering with WNEM TV5 and Numerous Community Businesses & Volunteers
The Saginaw Community Foundation, along with TV5 and several community businesses are giving away 30,000 non-surgical masks for free to community members.
The giveaway will be on May 13th from 5pm – 7pm at several Saginaw-area locations. The giveaway will be a contactless effort and only requires those wishing to receive the masks to drive up.
“We are so fortunate,” said Renee Johnston, Saginaw Community Foundation President & CEO. “Our community is filled with such dynamic people who love Saginaw and want to help!”
Each family will be receiving two to four reusable cloth masks purchased from The Work Wear Store. Masks will be dispensed at the following locations: Heritage High School, St Charles High School, Dow Event Center, and Claytor Head Start. Those wishing to receive a mask simply need to drive up, pop open their trunk and the masks will be placed inside. Recipients are asked to remain in their vehicles.
WNEM TV5 is helping to spread the word about the giveaway. “With everything we are all going through, we wanted to find a way to give back,” said Julie Zoumbaris, VP and General Manager of WNEM. “Though we serve many communities, Saginaw is our home and making people aware of this incredible generosity is why we’re here.”
The masks were provided by the Saginaw Community Foundation with donations from Jolt Credit Union, Wildfire Credit Union, Wanigas Credit Union, Team One Credit Union, United Financial Credit Union, and Frankenmuth Credit Union. Other community partners and volunteers include: MIHIA, Tittabawassee Township, Freeland SportsZone, The United Way of Saginaw County, Dow Event Center, Huntington Event Park & Saginaw Spirit, Saginaw County Parks & Rec., St. Charles Schools, Saginaw Township, Saginaw Township Community Schools, Saginaw Township Police, Saginaw Sheriff’s Department and the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce.
