In April 2019, Eisenhower hosted an IBM Executive Panel as part of the Commandant’s Lecture Series. IBM’s participating Executives were Lisa Mascolo, Susan Wedge, and Joe Cubba. Lisa Mascolo is Managing Director of IBM U.S. Public Service. In this role, she leads 4,000 IBMers and oversees a $1.8B portfolio in support of clients across federal, state, and local governments as well as educational institutions. Susan Wedge is a 17 year IBMer and IBM’s Public Service Vice President of Digital Strategy, Interactive Experience, and Cognitive Process Transformation. In this role, she oversees Government project delivery across 11 technical practice areas to include advanced analytics, IoT, and Blockchain. Joe Cubba is a 27 year IBMer and IBM’s Public Service Vice President of Defense and Intel. In this role, he is responsible for the delivery of service, client satisfaction and growth across IBM’s DoD and intel projects. Additionally, Joe currently serves as an officer in the US Navy Reserves.
During IBM’s Executive Panel, Lisa, Susan, and Joe discussed three key themes: technology and innovation, public and private sector partnership, and leadership and inclusion. They presented several concepts aligned with each theme to include ethical artificial intelligence, digital reinvention, opportunities for effective private and public sector partnership, acquisition challenges, and cultivating a culture of inclusion. After their presentation, the Executives answered a host of questions from students spanning topics from millennial management, global IP challenges, and change management.
