                President's Message

The 2017-2018 School year was not an easy one for Florida schools. The following words were shared with me recently at a meeting with some of our parents...We adapt, We overcome, and We improvise. Those words really stuck with me and really describes what we do as school volunteer managers, business partner coordinators and family engagement specialists.
Adapt
One thing you learn in public schools is adjust to whatever situation being faced and that adapting requires an agile mindset.
Overcome
Within our schools, we are constantly presented with situations that test our ability to prevail in adverse situations. Resilience is the word used when describing the degree of fortitude people are able to show in the face adversity.
Improvise
The ability to solve problems in the face of unprecedented situation is a quality, which I believe, is of immense value in our schools and I commend all of you!
FAPE would like to thank each one of you for the amazing job you perform in your schools. We look forward to growing our partnership, our membership and supporting the needs of all of our members.
For the 2018-2019 School Year, we will focus on statewide support with state and national partnerships for all school districts.
Have a wonderful summer!

The Involvement of Fathers Celebrated

All Pro Dad held a breakfast recognizing the Pinellas Team Captains who are leading chapters at schools in the district. Held at the Stavros Center for Economic Education, the breakfast was attended by the school team captain and their principal. Superintendent Michael Grego and Florida Department of Education Chancellor Hershel Lyons both gave comments.

"Nothing is more powerful than a father's belief in the child," Grego said.

Chancellor Lyons used his personal experience to express the value of fathers and male role models in the lives of children.

"Without fathers and male role models like you, there is no way that Hershel Lyons would be standing here today."

All Pro Dad encourages the involvement and influence of fathers in significant ways. It is the fatherhood program of Family First, a national nonprofit educational and charitable organization that is based in Tampa.

Currently, there are about 50 All Pro Dad chapters in the district with 15 to 20 additional chapters taking root in the 2018-19 school year.
