Intsel Steel West Highlights New 234,000 Square-Foot Facility

On July 19, Intsel Steel West held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony at their new state-of-the-art facility located at 8573 Ulster Street. Mayor Sean Ford, Mayor Pro Tem Rick Teter, and Councilman Steve Douglas participated in the celebration. The new 234,000 square-foot facility houses the consolidated operations of R&S Steel and Intsel Steel West. 

The company's significant capital investment in rail spur infrastructure and in the Fehr Automated Material Handling System has positioned Intsel Steel as a competitive business in the Rocky Mountain Region. With nearly 100 employees, Intsel Steel West operates three shifts to handle shipping of more than 65,000 tons of steel per year. Its parent company, Triple-S Steel, was founded in 1960 and has grown to sell nearly 500,000 tons of steel per year for bridges, stadiums, barges and large buildings throughout North, Central and South America, as well as Asia. Event Showcased Adams County to National Site Selection Professionals

Commerce City's Economic Development Division joined Adams County Economic Development (ACED) and other Adams County economic development professionals in hosting the third annual National Site Selection three-day summit, which took place July 23-25. The summit was a way to promote the region as an ideal location for corporate relocation and expansion projects. Six national site selection consultants visited Adams County during the summit; one site selector was hosted by Commerce City's Economic Development Director, Michelle Claymore. The summit included panel discussions, tours, and networking events with business and industry leaders, and a dinner at the Reunion Coffeehouse in Commerce City.
Commerce City Companies Honored

The Commerce City Economic Development Division congratulates Aerofield Services and Hermes Worldwide. Both Commerce City companies won the Colorado Companies to Watch award in June. The Colorado Companies to Watch Awards recognizes 50 second-stage companies that have moved past the startup stage and into a period of growth. Winners are chosen based on company financial performance, unique processes, innovative products, and philanthropic actions. 

Aerofield Services provides global aircraft support through engine and airframe inspections to commercial, private, and governmental entities.  Hermes Worldwide, Inc. is a woman- and minority-owned business that provides chauffeured, executive car and limo services. 

The award program was established in 2009 by the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT), the Edward Lowe Foundation, and other community partners. Learn more about the  Colorado Companies to Watch program
Reach Customers Online with Google

The next workshop in the Commerce City Small Business Workshop Series will focus on how to reach customers online with Google. A Google trainer will teach attendees how to promote their online presence. Workshop attendees will learn best practices for creating a free  Google My Business listing, improving their website's visibility in Google's organic search results, and advertising on Google. The workshop will be held on September 27 at the Eagle Point Recreation Center from 8-10 a.m.  Learn more information and register.
Commerce City's Annual Sales Tax Seminar Coming September 27

To help local businesses stay compliant and aware of how taxes are implemented/reported, Commerce City is holding its annual Sales Tax Seminar September 27 at the Civic Center, 7887 E. 60th Ave. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. and the seminar starts at 9:15 a.m. The forum covers a number of topics such as when to charge sales tax and what is taxable, implications of special charges and fees associated with sales tax, and how to document sales tax and tax-exempt transactions. City tax representatives will be on hand to answer questions, help businesses understand city tax reporting requirements and file tax returns. El Coco Pirata Restaurant Now Open

El Coco Pirata restaurant, located at 5411 Quebec Street, is now open to the public. El Coco Pirata celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 12. Councilman José Guardiola spoke and was joined by Commissioner Charles Tedesco, and Councilmen Steve Douglas, Craig Hurst, and Benjamin Huseman for the ribbon cutting ceremony presentation. This is the fourth restaurant established by owner, Francisco Cuezas; his other restaurants are located in Denver and Evans Colorado, and in Hobbs New Mexico. El Coco Pirata's menu includes fresh seafood and sushi. The restaurant is open 7 days a week, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Little Pub Company Hosts Groundbreaking

Residents and visitors are one-step closer to enjoying meals with family, cheering on the Broncos, and even playing a game of Bocce Ball. The Little Pub Company hosted a groundbreaking on its newest location, State House 38, at the northeast corner of E. 104th Avenue and Chambers Road in the new Second Creek Marketplace development. Mayor Sean Ford spoke on behalf of the city. Mayor Pro Tem Rick Teter and Councilmen Steve Davis, Steve Douglas, Craig Hurst, and Benjamin Huseman assisted with the groundbreaking. State House 38 will be the newest location for Little Pub Company, a family-owned Colorado company with over twenty concepts across the Denver metropolitan area. The 3,500 square-foot restaurant and bar is set to feature a 1,500-square-foot, all-season patio, and the restaurant will serve American-style food for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
