Greetings!
Welcome to our newly redesigned e-newsletter! This issue kicks off our third quarter focus area, education.
When it comes to education, United Way of North Central Florida’s goal
is that children are born healthy and enter school ready to be successful and graduate from school on time
.
To accomplish this goal, more than $250,000 from the Community Investment Fund has been allocated to support local education programs helping children and families across North Central Florida. These programs provide services such as high-school credit retrieval, after school tutoring, child abuse prevention and more. However, the services these programs provide do not exist in a vacuum, they can be building blocks for a family, they can help a child stay on track to graduate on time and they can help a teen prepare for college.
We are also proud of our work in early literacy through the ReadingPals grant. For the eighth year, we have operated ReadingPals and provided thousands of mentoring hours to local children.
