Online Training Opportunities
Child Care Aware ® of Kansas Online Learning courses are designed for busy early childhood professionals. These courses meet annual KDHE training requirements for Licensure as well as training requirements for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Find courses that provide information and ideas for activities with children, such as:

Media and Childhood Development
This course discusses the types of electronic media children are exposed to and identifies the effects media can have on their growth and development. It discusses media violence and reviews effective strategies to use with media-traumatized children. Media advertising and the impact it has on children is discussed, along with ways to combat its influence. The purposes of the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) are discussed. Media safety and security guidelines and technologies are identified. Media rating scales are detailed, along with strategies for controlling children's media use.
Language Development
This course discusses components of language development in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, including listening, oral language, and written language. It provides language milestones for each age group, and actions and activities that encourage language development and promote early literacy. This course also discusses early literacy in relation to language development.
