New Suicide Prevention Module is Now Available:
Engaging Families and Social Supports in Working with Suicidal Individuals

Using videos, realistic vignettes, and interactive exercises, this module provides guidance to clinicians about engaging family members and others in the care of suicidal individuals.

 
As a result of completing this module, learners will be able to: 
  • Recognize best approaches to how clinicians working with suicidal individuals may go about engaging family and /or friends
  • Demonstrate ability to obtain consent in order to engage family and/or friends
  • Discuss how to best approach the family/friends and inquire about engagement
  • Summarize psychoeducation regarding suicidal risk and prevention
  • Identify best practices for tending to family stress while attending to the patient
  • Explain how loved ones can play a role in supporting the treatment of a suicidal family member
  • Utilize the Shared Decision-Making Approach for engaging family members in various treatment settings
 
Continuing education credits for completion of this module are available to physicians, social workers, licensed mental health counselors, and CASACs.
