Dear Parents,

Jogathon is Friday!  If you have not yet enrolled your child please do so today.  We need 100% participation in order to have a successful event.  Right now KB continues to be ahead with 4A and KA right behind.  There are lots of fun prizes but most importantly we are teaching our children to give back in support of their school.  Please support this very important event.  Here is the login information.  Thanks!

Have a wonderful week,

Security Cameras

The school has a camera system to insure the students and faculty are in a safe environment. The cameras are placed several locations in the T-K area as well as at the front entry gate to identify those requesting entry, the outside of the school building to observe the playground, lunch area and north doors, and in the hallways. Parents and guests should buzz at the gate and wait for entrance.  If several parents arrive at the same time they should enter together, however, if you do not know someone at the gate, ask them to please buzz in separately. Please do not ever ask a student to open the gate for you!

For those new to our school, Mr. Michael Osborn, owner of Pie 'N Burger, treats all students, parents, faculty, staff and school board members to a delicious Pie 'N Burger lunch to celebrate your donation to the Blessed are the Children campaign.  Proud parents of 3 St. Philip alumni (Michael '00, Kelly '02 & Robert '06), Michael and Jane Osborn started this tradition when their children attended school here.
An invitation will follow, but please save the date of Tuesday, April 2nd to join your student(s) for lunch.

SERVICE HOURS TIPS AND INFO
If you were short on hours for period 1, you should have received your bill (or you will be getting it very soon).  If you have a problem, please resolve it now. It becomes more difficult to resolve issues the longer you wait.

FEBRUARY IS HERE!  Service hours for the school year need to be complete by 4/30/19! That will come faster than you know. Don't wait to complete your parish hours!

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PARISH HOURS?
You may earn a maximum of 4 hours for parish work. Additional parish volunteering is welcomed but, service hours credit will not be awarded after 4 hours are reached.
SCOUTING- Parish service hours are only given to pre-approved scout leaders (who can earn a maximum of 4 hours each). For each grade, there can be one approved leader per every 8 scouts. Leaders need to submit their names to the Parish Service Hour Coordinator by November 1. (Parish Hours coordinator, Mimi Stolpe).
Please refer to the Parish Service Hour guidelines for more information on what hours may be submitted for parish hours.

Questions about service hours?  All answers can be found on the School website under SERVICE HOUR GUIDELINES.

PTO NEWS
JOG-A-THON
Thank you to all the Falcons who have soared to new levels for Jog-A-Thon! We have close to 70% of our students registered at www.thegetmovincrew.com and we hope to keep that number growing to 100%! Among those registered, we already have about 100 Superstar Falcons who have individually raised $150 or more, and we also have over 25 Fabulous Falcon Families whose children have collectively raised over $250 for St Philip! Keep it going! The final week is always our biggest week for donations! Any student or family whose donation amount qualifies for an incentive by the end of Tuesday (Feb 19th) will have visible recognition at the Jog-A-Thon course. It's not too late to do your part to support St Philip the Apostle School!

A few reminders for students and spectators:
St Philip asks that each student raise a minimum of $35 as a Jog-A-Thon participant. Donations can be made online or submitted to the office in the Jog-A-Thon envelope. All in-office donations will be tallied with any online donations so that students receive credit for all donations made in their name. Students will receive their t-shirts earlier in the week. Each grade is represented with a different color. Students are allowed to wear uniform shorts or the Falcon P.E. shorts with their provided Jog -A-Thon shirt. We will need day-of volunteers to help with the course and post-run tallying. If you are able and interested, please see the Sign Up Genius link here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B084BAEA822AA8-stphilip1 In keeping with our commitment to school safety, ALL VOLUNTEERS AND SPECTATORS MUST RECEIVE A VISITOR'S BADGE when arriving for Jog-A-Thon. A separate table near the entrance gate will be set up to sign visitors in. We are hoping to have a large group of spectators this year, so please join the fun!

WALKING WITH PURPOSE - WOMEN'S MINISTRY
Walking With Purpose is a new ministry that St. Philip the Apostle Church is offering to women seeking a deeper understanding of our Catholic faith by studying the Bible. It's not a traditional Bible study. It begins as a 6-week program that incorporates at-home Scripture Study, weekly small group discussions and monthly talks. Walking with Purpose is a supportive and fun loving group who share a common goal to transform hearts to Christ through knowledge of scripture.

Come join us on February 21st at 7pm in the Holy Angel Hall as we begin our first study guide program called "Living in the Father's Love." For questions, please call Andrea Leos at (626)354-8254 or e-mail at [email protected].
