CMG Financial and Switch Join Corporate Philanthropy Partners.

We are excited to welcome Switch and CMG Financial to the Corporate Philanthropy Partners. Both companies are committed to local philanthropy.

The Community Foundation's Village on Sage Street and workforce housing spurred CMG Financials' interest in the Community Foundation and the CPP program. Michelle Shaman, Sales Manager for the Builder Division in Northern California and Reno-Sparks, says they can start the HomeFundIt program and help the residents at the Village save and raise funds for a home loan down payment.

Switch Vice President for Strategy, Adam Kramer said,

"There aren't many non-profits that have been around 20 or more years like the Community Foundation and have the track record of helping the number of non-profits they do in granting out $115 million over that time frame. The Community Foundation is a trusted organization, so it was a no brainer to contribute,"

"Our primary focus is that we are a Nevada company made up of Nevadans. This is our home, where our headquarters is located, and we take that seriously to be a part of the communities we call home. We plan to be here and to grow for decades to come," Kramer said.

Corporate Philanthropy Partners Tour Local Efforts to Help Workforce at December Meeting

Chris Askin led the Corporate Philanthropy Partners on a tour of the Village on Sage Street construction site before their December meeting at the TMCC Applied Technology Center. Work is progressing at the Village on Sage Street site with a move in date estimated in April.

If you would like to schedule a tour call Ginny Harding-Davis at 775-333-5499.

During the lunch meeting, Dean Kyle Dalpe presented the evolution and "explosion" of work force training opportunities at the
Center.
Dalpe reported that the lack of housing is the chief problem keeping businesses from hiring the employees they need. Key hiring attributes were discussed. Communication skills, ability to pass a drug test, and work ethic were agreed to be most important. Skill training needed for specific job tasks can be implemented once a new recruit is hired.

Partners toured the labs and learned about training developed to meet local industry needs. Annie Zucker, Renown Health, remarked during the tour, " I am blown away at the TMCC updates. Not every kid is college bound. Education that is offered at TMCC helps them succeed and helps our region's businesses hire skilled people."

Corporate Philanthropy Takes a Front Row Seat at Raley's

by Becca Whitman,
Community Relations Manager

Philanthropy has been a cornerstone at Raley's since the very beginning. In looking at Raley's corporate giving today, it is clear that the organization's mindset has not shifted.

In 2018, Raley's granted more than $9.5 million through community giving initiatives.
