SILVERADO ARTIST MARIA CALDERON WINS NALAC GRANT

National Association of Latino Arts and Culture (NALAC) has awarded a $5,000 grant to artist and ethnologist Maria Calderon, of Silverado, to support her research and a series of paintings "exploring the biodiversity of landscapes." She was one of 26 artists nationwide. More about Maria here. More about the NALAC grants here.

OC's "POETRY OUT LOUD" WINNER
Ava Walters, a student at Mater Dei High School, was the winner of Orange County's "Poetry Out Loud" competition, and will proceed to the State of California competition next month. "Poetry Out Loud" is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts, and administered statewide by the California Arts Council and locally by Arts Orange County and the Orange County Department of Education. Poetry Out Loud encourages high school students to learn about poetry through memorization, performance, and competition. More info here.
MISSION VIEJO ARTS SURVEY
City of Mission Viejo is taking a hiatus on its popular annual "Arts Alive!" festival this April, and asking the community for input regarding a 2020 festival through an online survey here.

DOWNTOWN SANTA ANA BANNERS
40+ street banners in the Downtown Santa Ana Artists Village are being replaced, and Santa Ana artists are invited to submit designs. Selected and submitted final print-ready designs will be awarded $1,000. Deadline: March 27. Info here.
